I love cats and have 20 acres. I am financially able to take care of them but what will people think. Only 3 come in the house and stay at night. The rest are outside... Will my family and friends think I'm crazy?

Hi! Thanks for all the comments. YES, Five of them are already fixed....two of them are too young. But believe me! They will be as soon as they are old enough! Thanks!

As long as they are all receiving adequate vetinary care, are all wormed, deflead, vaccinated and most importantly NEUTERED, then I don't see what the problem is!

If you are financially able to sustain these animals and they are all healthy and happy then it is entirely up to you how many you care for. Every thought of opening your own cat sanctuary?

on 20 acres you should have no problem. there is enough room for the cats to all have territory without bothering neighbors, the house cats are no problem for anyone else, much less their business.
enjoy your kitties and your life!

i had 7 cats in a 2 bedroom apartment--now, THAT is borderline too many! but 20 acres can support many many kitties--each with his/her own territory--no problem.

If you have that much property and are responsible about getting them fixed and keeping them well fed, then I see no reason to care what other people think because your situation is acceptable. It's not like you have all of them crammed into a tiny room 24/7.

As long as you make sure all your cats keep in good health, it should be fine. Don't let other people dictate how many pets you should or should not have.

Of course, if someone comes over to your house and is allergic to cats...that could present a problem.

Sugar, if it makes you feel better, I have ten. I don't care what anyone else thinks. The cats are healthy and happy and my husband and I are happy, and that is all that matters. Other people don't live on your property. You Do. It is your home not theirs.

Just in case any of my neighbors ever gets a bee in their bonnet and tries to report me as a cat hoarder, I keep my cats spaying/neutering and immunizations receipts in a fireproof lock box. My vet also supplies little "Pet Health Record" books that he updates when I take one of them in for anything. I can prove they are well cared for. My litterboxes are clean and my house is clean. That is all that matters.

Enjoy your life. You only get to live it once.

That is too many for me personally...but if it is not for you, then you are great! If you are able to take care of all of them the proper way (able to get them to the vet for regular check-ups, feed them proper food, keep them clean if they get too dirty, invite them in on cold, brutal nights, give them very clean water, etc), then who cares what others think? If your family thinks you are crazy, let them. At least you are doing what you enjoy with a level of excellence to provide a great home environment for your feline friends.

Number one: Who cares what anyone thinks if you have multiple cats. If they make you happy and you make them happy that is all that matters. I have multiple cats and I love each and every one of them. I would not trade them in for the world. I don't care what anyone thinks. If that makes me crazy then so be it.

No, not as long as you have the room and are able to take care of them. There should be more people like you.

No, as a matter a fact, we have seven cats and they all stay in the house plus they're fixed

as long as you can take care of them and can have them fixed before they start breeding who cares what people think. if you're providing a good home for them and good vet care its okay. good for you. wish more people were like that. there wouldn't be so many problems with over population and stray animals.
