I'm a veterinarian at a low-rent part of Compton. At least daily, people bring me a mauled dog to care for. these must be good fighters because I understand most of the losers are killed.

I wouldn't have thought about it, until one family brought me 3 mauled dogs over a single weekend. No way that's accidental. Then the husband tried to extort anti-biotics from me with threats of violence. He later (probably it was him) threw a BRICK through my windshield and popped all of my tires.

Think about the dogs. They are only doing what is expected of them. Google it, or check the links on wikipedia. People who force dogs to fight are COWARDS. You are afraid. You won't get in the ring yourself and you make a dog do all your dirty work. For a bet and some money. PUSSY!

I promise you if you show me a dog-fighter, I could show you a felon, a drug dealer and a child abuser.

You should be punished for making dogs fight. The most creative punishment gets "best answer".

We just rescued a Doberman and he seems to be getting along with my cats, as long as they dont run for him. We keep a very close eye on him when the cats are out and he leaves them alone, like I said until they run away then you can see him thinking...can I chase them??? As for the squirels outside...that's another story. I think Buddy thinks his only job in life is to rid the backyard of squirels. I am just wondering if a dog that chases squirels can learn that my cats are 100 PERCENT OFF limits. Any ideas or thoughts would be great!

I have a female papillon that is only six months old, but has began a cycle. I don't want her to have puppies this young, but I can't supervise her all the time with the male dog(s). Can she get pregnant at this age, and if not, which age?

Also, does anyone have any advice to go along with this?

We have three cats, ranging between 5-10 years old. We've never had any problems with any of them not using the litter box until recently. First, does anyone have any ideas of how to figure out which cat it could be? We are gone most of the day, and that is when it has been occuring? And secondly, any ideas on how to stop it? I've had cats all my life, all indoor, and have never had this problem with any of them.

I have a 7 yr old Italian Greyhound that's been to the vet twice. Aside from however many trips she took before I got her when she was 10 weeks old, she's been to the vet twice in all of 7 years. first was to get standard stuff done when she was a puppy and then to get spayed when she was a year old.

She's never been sick a day in her life or gotten hurt. I've never seen her nose dry, always wet. I don't see why I need to take her if she seems perfectly healthy to me. I've never seen a day when she's slow, she's been active everyday since the day I got her.

I'm just curious if I'm missing something. I don't see the point in taking her unless she really needs to go. Same with me, the only times I've ever been to the doctors is when I NEED to go.

Is that wrong?

We've adopted a pup that is a wolfhound/hound mix, but can't determine what the "hound" is. He is a medium dog (9 months and 55 lbs) but does not have the height of a pure wolfhound.

His coat is wirey and he is brindle (brown/back) and has a beard under his chin.

Vet thinks maybe part terrier....but what kind?

Any ideas on what breed of dog is medium/large, long tail, wire coat, beard and brindle?

I have two female dogs. One is 9 months old and just came out of her first heat last month. But now my other one(1 year old) is in her 2nd one. My problem is that the first one seems to be in heat again! Do female dogs sync up like humans? How long should this last?
