Cooked white rice. Take away all other food, feed the rice for at least a day and then you can add chicken breast or lean hamburger meat to the rice for a day or when it stops. Good luck!

Just plain white rice, maybe some steamed white meat chicken, then a dollop of PLAIN yogurt, my dog had diarrhea about 2 weeks ago, it worked right away, but then my dog got constipated after that. Sigh!! There's also a prescription diet, available at the vet clinic, but my dog didn't really like it. Another thing is to give your dog a little teaspoon of pepto bismo (use the infant portion), pick some treats in there to make it taste better.

I hope it's just a temporary thing for your dog, it's a lot of work!!! I have to watch what to give him every time and make sure NOT EVEN ONE treat when you are doing the rice and chicken diet. Good luck!

If the dog has diarrhea it is important to make sure that the dog is maintaining hydration. If the diarrhea persists for longer than 24 or so hours see a vet.... and try and bring a stool sample with you so they can run a check to make sure there are no internal parasites that could be contributing to the problem. A bland diet of rice and boiled chicken is a good idea to help settle to stomach.

Cooked white rice, or cooked plain potatoes (not red potatoes). As far as people medicine you can give things like pepto and immodium BUT you should still at least consult a vet as there may be other underlying issues. I worked at a vet for a long time, and learned from them that you could give pepto and immodium pills, 1 pill for every 30 pounds for adult dogs. If your dog is a puppy, is very tiny, or hasn't seen a vet recently, I don't suggest doing this though.

boiled white rice and maybe a little boiled chicken. take away all other food. including rawhides and such. be sure to keep your dog hydrated as well.

do not give your dog pepto, thats human medicine and not meant for dog tummes.

diarrea is not all that bad unless is is going on for a few days. more than three days i say go to the vet then.

It is best to seek the advice of a veterinarian, especially if there is no relief soon.

That said, one of your best bets is to feed nothing for 12-24 hours, then only a bland diet, such as brown rice, boiled chicken, etc.

Some vets will allow you to give immodium or milk of magnesia, something like that. However it is best to check with them ASAP, especially if there is blood in the stool.

Definitely try changing your brand of food. Old Roy is not a good choice due to the low quality of ingredients and large amount of fillers. Also, eliminate table scraps. Dogs don't need them, they encourage begging, and it's harder to maintain a healthy weight.

If your dog has diahrrea you should feed him/ her a mixture of cooked hamburger meat and plain cooked rice. About a cup of rice and a cup of hamburger (depending on the size of your dog). Do this twice per day and start working his regular dog food into the mix, a little more each day. If the diarreha continues you should see a vet. About 4 days after I would say.

The vet will prescribe flagyl tablets or maybe tylan powder. Also they can prescribe a special food called prescription diet that helps with diarrhea. Petco also sells something over the counter that can help.

The boiled rice with ground beef is recommended, and you can also give your dog OTC people med such as Imodium. Only give a whole one to a large dog, otherwise break it in half. It really works!

When our dog has diarrhea, we mix in 2ish tablespoons of pumpkin (canned, no sweeteners) with a small amount of her food. It's worked everytime. Pumpkin is also supposed to work for constipation (all-purpose regulation). The fiber helps bulk up loose stool, the water helps with constipation. Good luck!
