Last week I Pet Sat my Friend's Ferret ( who has fleas. )

Before I left her house, I gave him a flea dip-
(he stopped scratching! )
I put his little ferret bed in a baggie and took him to my house-
everything was cool, I took him home a couple days later-

and today, I found his bed- the bag was open! I didn't wash it and now I'm freaking about fleas! did they jump off and get in my carpet, clothes and mattress? I'm freaking out and scathching now ( which might be all a psycholocial thing- I don't know!) what do I do? is it really possible they jumped off the bed and infiltrated my whole house? will i be okay with carpet spray or do I need to call a professional? Please don't tell me I need to bomb my house! I have 4 roomates and that would be a total pain!

What do I do?

Will the fleas just go away on thier own? ( if I even have them?)
I've never had pets so I just don't know- please help me!

i was frantic what could i do,i decided to wash and shampoo the poor remains of snowy,he came up lovely so i got out my hairdryer and gave him the full beauty treatment and when darkness fell i sneaked next door and popped him back in his hutch.problem solved natural causes.oh no next morning i heard the neighbour screaming so i ran out intending to colsole her over her sad loss, what's wrong i said---------------------------------------------i don't understand was the reply our rabbit died 5 day's ago and we buried it in the garden and now it's appeared back in it's pen with such a lovely clean fur,how can this be.this is my problem do i face up and tell her the truth or let sleeping / dead rabbits lie.

I recently found a dog, a small blonde husky mix. She's a very sweet dog, but has a bad case of mange, along with runny eyes, and general ill health. I've posted flyers in the local area, trying to find her owner, run an ad in two local papers, and posted ads on the internet. I've checked for lost dog ads. So far, no luck.
The thing is, I really want to keep this dog. I've already taken her to the vet, and there is no microchip. She never had a collar or tags.
She's an absolute sweetheart, and gets along with my very dominant female German Shepherd. She even likes my cats!!!
So, how long before I can consider this dog mine?

I live in a high desert region in California. During the winter it gets VERY cold.

I have a Chihuahua puppy that I leave in my backyard when I have to go out of the house. Of course, I don't leave her there all day. If I am not at home my sister or mom will eventually get home and bring her in.

We do not let her (my puppy) loose in my home, it is too dangerous. There are too many breakable items, and small things that she can eat. When we do bring her in she is in her crate, on the sofa with someone, or on someone's lap. In other words, she is always under supervision inside the home.

Fall and Winter are near and like I mentioned, it gets really cold outside.
What should I do when it is cold out and no one is home (I would regularly leave her in my backyard, but I cannot for obvious resons)??
What do you guys do when you have to leave your dogs at home and have to go out during the winter???

I've never touched a bird in my life and I'm actually afraid to try and pick it up myself. Is there a professional I can call to help?

my cat had kittens 3 weeks ago. we have kept her in the bathroom where she had them because its the only safe place from my dogs and small children. we left the door open a crack tonight because she likes to take a break from the little ones and instead she moved them under my four year olds bed. we had to move them back because its my sons favorite place to play. now shes carring them around and placing them in tha middle of the bathroom floor. their all crying because their hungry. her teats are swollen because there so full of milk. she keeps making a low growl and pacing. she wont feed them. i think shes lost it! what should i do? oh and before anyone says it she was pregnant when i got her and is grtting fixed in three weeks. thats when the vet said it would be fine.

We have a 3 year old male tabby and want to know what the best playmate for him would be, a male or female kitten? He was nuetered as a baby and has been an only pet the entire time. He is not aggressive but knows that he rules this house. He does not like dogs and is very curious about the neighbor cats, he has gotten into a cat fight with one of them though.

My 2 year old shih tzu dog just made a wheezing sound for about 30seconds when i came home. It sounds like he's having trouble breathing in or something is stuck in his airway. He usually doesnt have this problem. The last time was months ago. Did he just get too excited and choked up on his breathing or is there something else wrong like an asthma or allergies?

This is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen my dog do. He will lick my female dog's pee after she goes. Why is he doing this? Is this normal? I'd have to say these two dogs are most abnormal dogs I've ever seen in more ways than one.

I have a one-year-old unspayed female mini dachsund who constantly humps my arm! And it's not just me (I'm female) but also my sons and daughter as well.

Is it a dominance thing, or is it because she's unspayed (she's getting spayed next week, btw). Help!

We are looking into buying a new dog - we have a retreiver mix and want to get him a buddy (our old dog passed away and he needs a new friend but I want to get a smaller dog this time - he weighs 80 pounds). We live in a suburban/city area and also have children (and a cat).

What is your definition of a cat?

2006-09-08 18:19:29 · 7 answers · asked by Sarah T 1 in Cats

I am wondering if they bark a lot. We have a two year old lab mix who barks - but only when provoked (not incessantly). I am also wondering if they are really hyper, how they do with kids, are they difficult to train (especially potty train), and any other info that would help.
