I have a one-year-old unspayed female mini dachsund who constantly humps my arm! And it's not just me (I'm female) but also my sons and daughter as well.
Is it a dominance thing, or is it because she's unspayed (she's getting spayed next week, btw). Help!

This is a dominance issue. Not a sexual issue. She is trying to tell you that she is above you in the pack. It is not a good thing. You need to grab her by the knap of the neck and look her in the eyes and say no. The mother dog would do this by taking her by the knap of the neck. also, do not let her on the bed or couch with you. she has to stay on the floor. She is saying she does not respect you in dog language.

Yeah this is a dominance thing-also, when we got our female dogs spayed, they stopped doing this-except for one of them, and she as well is a mini daschund-she is 6 years old and still has to hump someone's arm or hand every night-maybe it is a mini dachsund thing-just kidding!

The humping will stop once you get her spayed. Thats a very common thing to happen, it's good that your getting her spayed, that shows that you are a very responsible doggy mommy.

Well I hate to say, but it's a little too late ...you should have got her fixed MUCH earlier...She is already in the habbit of humping, and now she will more then likely continue the habit.... You are going to have to be really stricked with her when she does this.... find a way to punish her without hitting her...If you have a kennel cage, scold her seriously and put her in the cage...She will learn...But old habits die hard...
