We have a 3 year old male tabby and want to know what the best playmate for him would be, a male or female kitten? He was nuetered as a baby and has been an only pet the entire time. He is not aggressive but knows that he rules this house. He does not like dogs and is very curious about the neighbor cats, he has gotten into a cat fight with one of them though.

cats are very territorial. watcht the kitten and keep them seperated, he could hurt her. I have the genltest , oldest soul of a nuetered male ( I mean lazy and easy going big time), but bring a new cat in and he changes. it's his house. We now have a female and they get along now (but we got her when she was bigger not a kitten)

Male cats are VERY dominate and if he hasn't been neutered I would suggest you get that done first because he will tear that kitten up first chance he gets. Lol. I know that firsthand. I had a male cat for 6 years and then got a kitten, it was a female and he was a male, but he tore that little kitten up. I got him neutered and he left it alone but male cats usually don't play at all anyway. My cat lived to be 15 years old and I still have the other kitten.

a curious female kitten would be the best option.
