Well you have opened a can of worms on this topic. You should be ashamed of yourself that your even considering this mutilation. If dogs were meant to have this look they would be born that way. How would you like having your ears clipped because it might look good.
The same goes for dogs tails. They should stay as they are.

best time would be while they are only a couple months old. Perferably between 3-4 months old. in other countries it is illegal but in the USA it is acceptable. Personally, i believe that certain breeds should have their ears cropped and tails docked because of the way the body is shaped and for what they are bred to do. For example, boxers, dobermans, and schnauzers should be cropped and docked. Rottweilers should be docked. etc. Best thing to do is get a vet that would do the surgery. After they tape them up, about a week later, place a post in between both ears taped to the top of the ears so that the cartilage gets used to being fully erect and pointy. Forget about those that say its cruelty. It has been proven that for some breeds, cropped ears prevent ear infections. Some parents let their kids put plugs in their ears or have over 5 piercings in each ear and noses and that is technically altering and damaging someone or something. Just make sure you check them at least once every two weeks to make sure nothing is wet or smelly. Same process you do with any other breed. The ears should stay taped for 3-4 weeks depending on the angle of the cut and the vet. For my dobermans, i leave them a full month plus or minus a couple days just to be sure they are fully erect and pointy.

Every dog that I ever owned that normally got the ears cropped, took place within the first year of their life. Nevertheless, I don't think that it's all that important, unless it is something that must done while in their growing-stages. Best thing to do is to call your local Vet and ask him or her

I ALWAYS HAD MY DANES DONE AT 9-12 WEEKS THEN POSTED RIGHT AT THE TIME OF THE CROP. BUT THIS LAST PUP WAS CROPPED FOR ME BY HER BREEDER'S VET AT 6 WEEKS OLD ! AND LEFT DOWN AND OPEN TO HEAL BEFORE POSTING1 GREAT IDEA TOO. AFTER 2 WEEKS THEY WERE POSTED COMPLETELY HEALED AND NOT SORE AT ALL. THIS CAUSES LESS FUSSING WITH THE EARS BY THE DOG TOO! I WILL ALWAYS TRY IT THIS WAY IF MY VET WILL.

We have a boxer that already had her tail docked when we got her, but we chose to leave her ears natural. She is beautiful. I really think boxers look better without cropped ears. Although I am not one of the people who think you are monster for considering the procedure (I myself have all my cats declawed), I do think it is very unnecessary, as you are getting zero benefits from it.

It depends on where you live. A lot of states have deemed it illegal to crop ears and tails on dogs. If you get it have it done by a professional. That means go to a vet and ask them. They will do it and give you medicine to take care of your dog properly. If they say it is illegal please don't do it for the safety and health of your dog, if you really care.

Getting a dog's tail cropped or its ears clipped is mutilation; it is cruel and inhumane and stupid, done only for the aesthetic look and not for any health benefit. Don't do it, it is sick and awful.

Unless you are showing your boxer - do not clip his ears, I have two pits and they have full tails and ears and are beautiful!

You shouldn't. What you are asking is to mutate the dog. The dog is perfectly fine the way he is, right?

A dog is a living being. Not something you can sculpt and change to be more fitting to your liking. If you don't like the way his ears look, sell him to someone who likes him for how he looks now.

Don't be a *****. Leave your dog alone.
