Last week I Pet Sat my Friend's Ferret ( who has fleas. )

Before I left her house, I gave him a flea dip-
(he stopped scratching! )
I put his little ferret bed in a baggie and took him to my house-
everything was cool, I took him home a couple days later-

and today, I found his bed- the bag was open! I didn't wash it and now I'm freaking about fleas! did they jump off and get in my carpet, clothes and mattress? I'm freaking out and scathching now ( which might be all a psycholocial thing- I don't know!) what do I do? is it really possible they jumped off the bed and infiltrated my whole house? will i be okay with carpet spray or do I need to call a professional? Please don't tell me I need to bomb my house! I have 4 roomates and that would be a total pain!

What do I do?

Will the fleas just go away on thier own? ( if I even have them?)
I've never had pets so I just don't know- please help me!

If you had fleas, you'd know it. You can see them. If he slept in the bed after being dipped, whatever fleas that were in the bed are dead or gone. My dog gets them, his coat is short so you can see them. They are tiny but not microscopic. Hard to kill them though, so you can squish them between your nails.Get it between your Thumbnail of your left hand and your index fingernail of your right hand and "pop!" flat flea. I think they die off if there's noone to bite after a week or so. So you could just take off for a while.

If you see them, or have bite marks on your skin, it's no big deal to bomb your house, I've helped someone do that, you just press the can button, like a room deoderizer and set it down then go to the park for an hour or three..just tell your roomates that you're doing it as "preventative maintenance"

I know I'm longwinded, but I think you don't have fleas. Good luck

Flea bites itch ferociously. If you have them, you know. It is hard to kill them by popping them between fingernails. I found that if I caught one and let it go in a jar of soapy water, that killed it more easily.

We had fleas when my baby was very small and did not want to use poisons, so my mother vaccumed the house thoroughly every day for about two weeks, disposing of the bag outside every day, and that got rid of them.

BTW starving them doesn't work - they always seem to be able to find a meal somehow, and if you have them, going away for a few weeks will not get rid of them, just make them hungrier! Good luck - I doubt you have fleas, but if you do, I hope you can get rid of them quickly.

Get some Flea B Gone at your local pet store if they have it. It's powder but you sprinkle it on your carpet and it dries them out the eggs the babies and the adult fleas basically it stops them in their life cycle and it last a year and it really works, Don't buy anything from a store go to a pet store if they don't have this brand then they can recommend one, you may have to pay the price but it's worth it to get rid of them.

FLEA POISON IS WORSE THEN THE BUGS. I'D WAIT A WHILE AND SEE IF YOU EVEN HAVE ANY.
