And so you should be...wild birds are not easy to try to handle. The best thing you can do is call either your local humane society, or call information and ask for the phone number of a local wildlife rehabilitator. Call this person and explain the situation. Chances are he/she will come right out to assist, and will be much more able to help the bird than anyone else could.

Go to your local veteranary hospital they will fix the birds wing. Dont try to take care of it yourself it will only end up dying. Just give it to a vet and they wont turn u down. Until then though, put in a a really soft box, like take a box tall enough to where it cant fall out or hop out of. Put blankets and any other soft thing u might have in it. Then report the bird to the vet and they will know what to do.

Are you sure the wing is broken? I've had birds fly into the plate glass window in the living room, knock themselves silly and sit below it for an hour, looking like they're hurt, only to regain their senses and fly off. I of course, watch over them to keep cats and things away, but they always fly away after an hour or so.
I wouldn't advise taking it to the vet unless you're willing to pay the bill. Most around here won't even treat wild animals without making sure you'll pay for it.
You might try animal control, if they don't help, they might be able to suggest who can.

sadly. most people would not care enough about the bird and say that thet cannot make a trip to your house just for a little bird. if you are not successful in getting help, you should do what is right and end the birds life quickly and painlessly as possible, because he is probably in alot of pain.
but give feed him some milk soaked bread first. the perfect last meal for a bird.

Get a cardboard box or plastic storage box to put it in.
Then get a dish towel and drop it on him to pick him up. I would wear some plastic gloves too if you have them.
Put him in the box and then put him in the garage or somewhere a cat cant get to it. In the morning you could try animal services.

call a Veterinarian & ask if their is some one in your area
who knows about birds. If no luck there then go to the internet
at groups who have birds.

I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers from a lot of countries on my site, at
http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/links under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, click on your country and state, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice.
Very very best of luck.
