Does anybody here own a shetland sheepdog?
I just want more info about my 7 month puppy. Also,
when do I have to clip his nails?
Or should his vet do it?

I mean, if you're not a breeder than you have absolutly no good reason for not fixing your pet! there wouldn't be so many unwanted cats/dogs in this country if people just spayed/neutered their animals. people are sooooooo uneducated and ignortant these days about this topic!!! in my own opinion, if you refuse to have your cats/dogs spayed/neutered then you don't deserve to own them!! when I adopted my 5 month old kitten from my SPCA it was soooooooo heartbreaking to see all those cats/kits/pups/dogs living there. people don't realize or care to realize how huge this problem really is. my 2 year old female cat was spayed before her first heat and my 5 month old kitten was neutered before I adopted him. plus, I have a 10 year old beagle who was neutered when he was a puppy. I did my part as a RESPONSIBLE pet owner now others need to do the same if they haven't already!! I know that the overpopulation of us is sky rocketing to, but to me that's a completly different issue.

His nails are very long and the veternarian told me to cut off only a little at a time because if you cut off too much they will bleed. I've been careful but he is sensitive and his nails are tough to cut. Last time I tried he yelped and I couldn't get him to sit still again. Any suggestions?

I tried locking my room, but he starts barking loudly. So I ried ignoring him. But he crossed the line, when I laid on the bed and there was a piece of chwed pedigree on my hair. I don't want to give him away. But his feeding problems are stressing me!

This is the 2nd time asking a question about my 11mo. old male dachsund. When I first left him in the house alone he chewed up the carpet. I purchase a baby gate and he chewed thru that. I purchase a metal cage, he got the door open. I padlocked the door and he got the bottom pan out, lifted the heavy cage with his nose and squeezed thru. I returned that and got a plastic carrying crate, yes, he was able to use his nose to open that too. (Between the metal cage and the plastic carrying crate he now has a bloody snout I am nursing!) I decided to try leaving him outside and thought this is working great until today when my hard of hearing neighbor came over to tell me he has been howling all day. I am a stay-at-home mom but do need to get the kids to school and run errands. What can I do! I'm running out of ideas!!
Do the training collars work for howling?? Any GOOD ideas would be appreciated!

Our dog, Buddy, always chases them to their "safe zones". He genuinely just wants them to play with him. He does not growl or try to bite them. I wish they could co-exist in the same room together. I don't know if it because he is still a puppy or if he will always want to chase them. He is a shitzu if that matters at all. Otherwise, he is a great dog and a great companion ...

When my dog hears thunder and sees the flashes of lightning she freaks out. Tries to dig in the carpet, chews on things she's not supposed to. What can I do to keep her calm in this situation when I am home? If there anything I can do when I am not home?

hey,
this is probably not done very often, but i would really like to know how to train a horse to learn how to be ridden without any tak at all of any sort. and your probably thinking "well thenhoe are you meant to support yourself from falling off the horse?" i should think by holding the mane. and maybe i could teach my horse voice commands like "whoa" for stop and other signals for the other gaits. and by making him go left and right, as they do anyways when riding with the saddle and bridle, using your legs for going left or right. i have ridden bareback a number of times without the saddle, but i hyave never ridden without the bridle, and my horse is very calm and he really likes to learn new things. he is a thoroughbred ex racer, 16,3 hh, bay. really loving. and i would really like to have some tips from you guys to help me train him, with just voice commands and leg signals. sounds crazy, but i would really appreciate any tips and advice that you can give to
me!
thnx a lot!

My german shepherd female is very mindful of the rules (leaving the yard and ect.) but when the neighbors little dogs are let out it doesnt matter if she is with me or not she disregards all commands and will immediately go right for the dogs, how can i beat this habit, this is not a trait that I want from my dog and really nobody should.

If one were to throw a cat from the top floor of a high rise block of flats (about 14 floors), would it still land upright with all four paws on the ground?

If one were to use some form of binding material e.g. tape or string around it's four legs together prior to launch, would it still land on it's paws?

If it were blindfolded and bound, would it still land correctly?
