Do you have a local Tractor Supply or other Farm&Ranch store nearby? They should have a milk replacer formula that is pretty inexpensive. Typically, you can feed anything from calves to goats to pigs to puppies with it, you just follow the mixing directions on the back of the bag for the particular animal. You'll need a bottle that you can sterilize, of course, both before using and between feedings. Remember DO NOT HOLD THE PUPPY LIKE A HUMAN BABY. It's difficult at first, but hold the puppy in the same way it would lay to nurse it's mother. The puppy will need to be fed every 2 hours and then returned to the dam so she can stimulate it's bladder and bowels and s/he can curl up and sleep with the rest of the litter.

Or, you can remove the plumpest puppy from the teat and put the runt on and help it stay in place until it's tummy is tight and it just doesn't want any more. If necessary, you can **gently** open the runt's mouth and place it on the teat. Gently squeeze a little milk into the puppy's mouth and then hold the puppy in position until it begins to nurse. You may have to repeat this process every couple of hours.

Do the best you can to help the pup live and try to retain a positive attitude; but, don't be surprised if the runt doesn't make it. Sometimes that's just the way it is, even tho it's sad.

If you want to save him you should be out getting puppy formula right now and feeding him - with 10 puppies the mother could use the help anyway. If the mother's not looking after the runt at all, you'll also have to stimulate him to have bowel movements. Use an old soft cloth that's been dampened with warm water. Keep an eye on the runt to be sure he's not been shoved aside.

I Would Take Him To The Veternarian. He Could Be Sick. I Had A Puppy That Didn't Eat And We Took Him To The Vet And They Said To Feed Him Luquid Like Foods. Something Mushy. Something Tasty. Good Luck.

Hmm bottle feeding??? If he's not picky he'll let you bottle feed. My puppy chihuahuas (4 of them), almost 2 wks old came from picky eating chihuahua parents and refuses to let me bottle feed. So I monitor the lil rascals eating time. Making sure that as soon as one's full the next one feeds. I know it'll be hard since they all want to eat at the same time. But the full pups will crawl away as soon as they're done feeding. You might have to stay with the mom until she's fully nursed the lil one before letting her out to stretch or letting her stop nursing them completely at that moment. Good Luck. Btw... puppy formula is sold at walmart and petstores for about 5 bucks a can (12oz?) Depending if you have a large or small breed it should last you a day or so if not longer. =)

You must get the mother to herself to feed the runt, or it might die. Even if you must sit there and make sure mom dosent get up to go to the other puppys, just intill the runt gets a good start at life.

Take the dam out some and let the puppy have time to nurse alone without having to compete with the others until he gets stronger.

first give it just a little more time it hasnt even been 24 hrs. but if all else fails call your vet and atleast ask him what he thinks. you can get puppy replacement milk at your local pet shop but its gonna be a lot of work. i would call your vet and ask him to help the little guy out and if you really dont have time to feed him every 2 hrs id give him to your local shelter.

You need to get a pu[py nursing kit with a bottle and some extra nipples, Buy a puppy milk replacement and offer him this supple ment a fewtimes each day in addition to his regular nursing.

well, i would suggest that you feed him out of a baby bottle.
If his mouth is tiny, then you can pour warm milk in an eyedropper.
Hope he gets better! Sorry if this didn't help...
