My sister-in-law who lives downstairs recently got a cat. I like cats but I am 26+ weeks pregnant and don't want her around me or in my stuff. I tried the essential oil spray on the stairs and she was deterred for a little while but then just ran past it. My sister-in-law went and got one of those ultrasonic cat deterrent radar things but the cat just walks past it like there is nothing there. My sister-in-law doesn't want a gate but I really don't know what else to do. If anyone knows of something that worked to prevent a very persistent cat I, I need some help. It also has to be something that is safe for my baby.

I have to do an experiment for a science project on 'if fertilized water is more effective than just regular tap water'. How can I make a fertilized water that will be effective? What should the water-to-fertilizer ratio be? Any other tips? Thanks.

I'm not particularly concerned with the overall environmental impact of Compact Fluorescents. I'm concerned with what happens in my house when my kid knocks over a lamp with his football. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand he shouldn't be throwing a football in the house; it's just an example. I also have cats and dogs. The point is, if someone breaks one of these in the home, it puts a nice invisible toxic cloud in the air. What's the best way to clean this up without hurting anyone, and how much exposure is dangerous? Advice welcome and appreciated.

I am moving into an old farmhouse that has been vacant for a year. I have not yet moved in, but I can see the wasps in the house and flying around by the roof. I cant see any nests, so I am assuming they are getting in the cracks in the wood. The house is two stories high, so getting up there with a ladder and shooting blindly is not really an option. I know that the first frost will kill em, but from what I understand, the queen just lies dormant until spring. I am wondering if setting off a few bombs in the attic will get them. Will the bomb poison reach them from the attic if the bombs are placed near where I am seeing them go in and out from the outside? Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.
P.S. Just bought the house and don't have the hundreds available for an exterminator

I admit I have inherited my mother's trait so to speak, I am a pack rat. I have so many boxes in my home still unpacked since I moved in 2 yrs agp in my apartment. My closet is soo packed that you you literaly are standing on junk just to get into it. The rest of the apartment is clean but unless you open up cabinets or drawers, everything is crammed in them. I have 3 kids and me and my husband living in a 2 bedroom apt so I think maybe that is one reason why we have too much junk with too little space to work with. Are there any websites to help with disorganization? Any suggestions?

I need to vacume, but cant because I am afraid of that terrible odor that smells like rotten something. Do you think if I change the filter in the vac it will cause the odor to go away?
Its a bagless vacume with a hepa filter.

I have these little bugs in the bathroom, but nowhere else in my home. They like to sit on the ceiling, and they end up dying and falling into the sink. Can someone please tell me what they are, where they came from, how to get rid of them, and how to prevent them from coming back?

I have the land on the Peninsula (slight slope w/ leveled areas) and architectural plans (2 story home (~2500 sq/ft)). I am looking to have average finishes with the exception of the kitchen which will be higher end. Does anyone have any ballpark estimates for construction costs on a per sq/ft basis?

My husband and I have just recently moved to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana and I was wondering about some pretty big spiders I have been finding. Or of someone can just tell me about all the spider and weird bugs around here would be great! But the spider I am talking about, the body is about an inch long, it is brown in color, it isn't hairy but a little fuzzy, it's legs are about maybe an inch or a little longer.
The wolf spiders around here a pretty big too. Can they make you sick at all or hurt if they bite? Are there any brown recluse or hobo spiders in this area? i have been trying to look it up but I really don't know where to look and I don
t seam to be getting anywhere with my search. So I guess my questions are: Can wolf spiders be really large? Can they make you sick or hurt you in any way if they bite? Are there any brown recluse or hobo spiders in this area? And what could that large spider be? I have never seen a spider so big before!

I bought a mattress, my budget was 300, but I bought a mattress for 349. I figured its only 50 bux more, BUT I did not take tax into consideration. I ended up spending 403 with tax and delivery. Now I want to return it because I dont even have money for a box spring or a bed frame. The thing is the paper they gave me says I have a 90day comfort guarantee, if its not comforatble after 90 days I can exchange, and if I exchange for something cheaper I wont get a refund. I dont fall into that category because I havent even slept on it, so do I still have a chance to get my money back?

I woke up this morning and counted 37 freshly dug mole holes. They have totally ruined my garden. For some reason, they have not gone into any of my neighbours gardens on either side. It is just an ordinary lawn, the same as my neighbours, so what has suddenly attracted them? I need to get rid of them permanently.
I would be most grateful to hear some suggestions.
Thanks.

Our last kid has moved out and we want to settle down somewhere nice to grow old. A couple of criteria:
1. Need to be within a reasonable drive to a major airport 30-45 minutes at most.
2. Needs to be no further then 2 hr flight from Tucson AZ and Central CA. Have grandkids there.
3. Housing prices no higher then 350,000 and no HOAs or cookie cutter houses.
4. No unusual pest problems. I hate mosquitos, fire ants and snakes.
5. Nice climate.
6. Near water would be a huge plus.
7. Earthquakes don't bother us, but no tornado country.

Where is this place?

I only started collecting Fiestaware 3-4 years ago when I registered for wedding gifts. I don't like the cinnabar red with the other colors I chose and it's too late to return anything.

Does anyone know of any websites where people trade colors or would be willing to swap full place settings? This isn't the old collectable stuff, it's only 3 1/2 years old and from Macy's.

I'm posting this again because I only got one reply.

Thanks for reading!

It seems to me that the overwhelming advice of Yahoo! Answers participants in dealing with house fleas is to use poison foggers or bombs to get rid of the fleas.... but what are the risks of exposing people to such poisons? Should I be concerned that there's poisons on my tables, appliances, etc?
