Well your gonna have to rotate between different things every few days if you want your house to smell good every day. The reason is that your nose simply adjusts to the "normal" stimuli and after a few days begins to ignore constant stimuli. Meaning that even if you no longer smell the air freshener that doesn't mean that a complete stranger won't.

I use a combination of candles and the plug in air freshners. The air freshners work great in small spaces like bathrooms while candles are better for larger areas. I've also seen scented inserts you can put in with your air filter but I haven't tried them.

Hi M n M,
Here are a few things I use:
1. Laventder oil, with those thin "chopsticks" in the entrance to the house. It's good for a few weeks and the effect is amazing!
2. I create my own stuff: I take a soap that I like and using a grater, I turn it into "soap crumbs". I then take little pieces of organza fabric and put some soap into it and close it with a nice piece of satin ribbon. This makes the room (and closets) smell wonderful.

You need to check any kind of filters in your house, that's a place where mold like to live and make a stale smell in your house. They have air fresheners for your air conditioner filters that you just lay on top of the filter and when the air comes on it sends out air freshener. You can get your home checked for mold in your walls, floors or even if you have a garage hooked to your house, that can be a problem too.Good luck finding a solution, but be careful if you have allergies, this can cause you another problem. Goodluck !!!!!!!!

We have a bunch of plants (about a dozen) in one corner of the living room next to 2 tall-skinny translucent windows (to keep them in light). Even though some of them are way overgrown and probably need to be repotted, they sure keep the air fresh. My wife smokes, but when you walk in the house you wouldn't know it, right away.
caveat -- if you have cats/dogs, make sure they are non-poisonous types.

Over a year ago, my wife bought this cinnamon pillar candle and set it on our coffee table. We don't burn it. But, to this day, the house smells like cinnamon whenever I walk in the door.

bi/card of soda, it is really cheap
place it is a dish, and put out of sight, it doesnt smell, but it takes the smell out of the air
it dosent affect anyones breathing, or change the qualtiy of the air, but it keeps the house smelling fresh
replace every so often
