For the love of Pete, I can't get rid of these fruit flies! There is nothing that sits out, I run scolding water down the drains in the kitchen sink daily and the trash is taken out daily. Does anyone know what I can do to kill these pests? Thank you so much!

Any trap you use isn't going to be a permanent solution until you find the source. They're living on Something. Have you checked under the front of your refrigerator? The side and front of your stove? Under anything that sits on your counters? Fruit flies can live on very little and fit in tiny tiny places, but they live only a day or two. As soon as you find the source, they'll be gone, I promise! Just think a little more creatively when looking.

Too much water in the plants. Let the plants dry out completely and do not over water after that. I wait till the plant shows signs of wilting before I water. I had these flies and only watering once a week on the smaller pots maybe every two weeks on the bigger pots eleiminated the problem. They come back if I over water.
