I bought a mattress, my budget was 300, but I bought a mattress for 349. I figured its only 50 bux more, BUT I did not take tax into consideration. I ended up spending 403 with tax and delivery. Now I want to return it because I dont even have money for a box spring or a bed frame. The thing is the paper they gave me says I have a 90day comfort guarantee, if its not comforatble after 90 days I can exchange, and if I exchange for something cheaper I wont get a refund. I dont fall into that category because I havent even slept on it, so do I still have a chance to get my money back?

I know it's dishonest, but just tell them that you are not sleeping well in it. You may want to save some more before you purchase another one. I don't know any place that sells a good mattress and box spring for $300. You may find one at that price, but you would probably have to replace it in a year or two.

No. If they say, no returns, no refunds, there really isn't much you can do about it. Although I would say that you did get a lemon. Even cheap mattress should last longer then 9 months. Maybe you should try contacting a consumer advocates group and see if they can help you with an exchange. Sounds almost like they sold you a used, refurbished mattress. Worth looking into. Some mattress shops allow returns in the first 30 - 90 days only. That is usually long enough for you to get an idea if you like the mattress or not. It really is worth investing in a good quality mattress. You spend approximately 1/3 of your life in bed and, as you've discovered, a bad mattress can make that time miserable. First, shop around for a better brand. Go to several stores and try them. And look for sales, there is always some place that has mattress on sale. I was able to buy a $1500.00 Serta from Penneys for under $900.00, including tax and delivery. Good luck.

If you buy something like a mattress and don't use it (it's still in the original packaging, all tags and labels intact), you should be able to take it back within a month or so, with no other explanation other than "I can't afford it after all". But, you will either have to take it there yourself or be subject to return delivery charges. You also won't get your original delivery fee refunded. And, you may be subject to a restocking fee that can be anywhere from 10% to 25% of the value of the item.

So, it seems you would be better off keeping it. And, there's nothing wrong with putting a mattress directly on the floor if you don't have a box spring and frame. You can get a box spring and frame later, when you can afford it.

If returned, you should NOT be entitled to a full refund since you are exploiting the vendor . . labor and delivery truck costs . . and even if "unused", the mattress may have to be legally identified as "returned" (since it was sold) and have a depreciated value. Accept responsibility for your actions . . we all make dumbass mistakes . . live and learn!

Check your regional Craigslist for a bedbase good value.
