a friend and i were discussing mouse traps and poison, stating that the drawback of poison is that the mouse could die out-of-reach and stink up the place, to which my friend commented "few things smell worse than a dead mouse." and i cannot help but wonder ...

all great answers! i can't rate the best answer - because i was looking for those "few things" and you provided those "few things," certainly no one answer is "better" or, in this case, "worse." now i know what my friend was talking about!

You've obviously never driven by a pig farm.

Actually, one of the worst smells I heve ever experienced was when I was in the navy at the submarine base on Point Loma. We were painting this building when the lights flickered a couple of times and then went out. We went outside and saw a plume of smoke coming up from behind the next building. The chief we were working for went to investigate, telling us to stay where we were.

He came back a couple minutes later and told us what had happened. But, we pretty much knew - we could smell it.

A group of painters were moving a tall scaffold around the building, when it tipped and fell into a 12,000-volt power line. They were standing on wet grass at the time and the scaffold had rubber wheels. So, they took the full 12,000 volts through their bodies, were electrocuted, and burned to a crisp.

I can honestly tell you that there is probably no smell more repulsive to another human being as that of someone else being burned to death. The burning flesh, hair, organs, bone - it's pretty disgusting.

Dead human. Dead elephant. Dead anything-that's-bigger-than-a-mouse.

Baby diapers - absolutely smells worse than a dead mouse. Same goes for any type of waste excrement from any large creature, except those creatures that fully digest their foods and thus do not have an odor (such as goats).
