I have a horrible sulfur smell coming out of my air ducts. It is really bad. I have an electric heat pump for my heating and cooling. I didn't have this problem in the winter when I used my heat, just now, when I'm using the air. It doesn't smell all of the time - some days it doesn't smell at all. But most of the time it does. Any ideas? I'm at my wits end. I have called several places and noone has ever heard of this. Thanks.

My furnace is still working. When I turn the thermostat to cool or just in the on position it will not work. I put the funace in myself last fall. I believe that the wiring and the breakers are all fine. Any ideas?

Considering that both are equipped with HEPA filters. I have seen a very wide price range on the market, going from the $120 shopvac model at Lowe's to the $700 Linevacer speciality cleaner. Is there a real difference between them?

Customer support and internet resources aren't cutting it for me. I hook up the connection as described, but when faucet is turned on, water leaks out of the connection. I've tried different seals to no avail. How can I get the facet connection to stop leaking? Link to User's Manual: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImage/86f03a6a-46c7-4044-9a81-e3ee9aaf696b.pdf

I realize I can get a ceiling fan, but that won't fix the PROBLEM. It does not appear to be clogged or leaking ducts. The air does not flow out of this vent as much as the other rooms (especially on the other side of the house). I am wondering if there are some type of separate fans internal to the A/C and the one that directs the air one way is working, but the other one is not. Thanks.

Typical 2-story home, approx. 2,500 sq. ft., upper Midwest climate. Some say to set fan to "auto" because running the fan ("On") when the AC is not on will cause the air to continue to gather moisture from the evaporator coils and get dank and cause the humidity in the house to be too high. Others say, yes, the air will be a "little" more humid but leaving the blower setting to "On" will keep the air in the home more evenly distributed between the lower and upper floors.

What should the fan setting be - AUTO or ON?

Thx.

I have been working on cleaning a house where an old lady died. She was a pack rat and her house is full from floor to ceiling with crap. She no longer used any of the bedrooms because they were too full and instead only used the living room to sleep in.

She was incontinent and was too old to care about hygene.

The bathroom was full of urine soiled clothes and the sleeper sofa smelled unbelievably bad. All of this has been removed from the house, however the smells remain. STRONG!

Are there chemicals that will counteract the smell of human urine? I have previously treated cat urine with some success, but this is different - not an amonia smell.

I am concerned that the smell is in the subfloor and walls, not just the carpets and crap. This isn't a decomposing smell, just stale urine.

Any suggestions? A spray treatment would be ideal.

My hot taps work in the bath and sink in the bathroom. Although the one in the kitchen does not work, it just runs cold.
I was told it would be an air lock and so turned the main water tap off, then the bath and sink taps on , let them run dry and then turned the main tap back on, and this should have freed the air lock if any. The kitchen tap was hot after this had been done but after turning it off again and going back to it later again it wasn't working.
I'm now on here looking for another possible diagnosis to solve the problem as it didn't work. Does anybody know how I can get it to work. Please only answer this if you do.

Thank you!

To save my septic system I heard of making a 4 x 4 hole and filling with rocks to let the water drain. Can I do that in my crawl space or should it be away from the house?
