Depending on the size, it could be anywhere frmo 2-5 years, and THAT is relative to how many people you have in the home and how well you treat it.
There are several things you can do to reduce the pumping. When you use the restroom, only flush directly after deficating. A toilet can be used a couple times in the same day wihtout smelling bad prior to flushing....this saves water, as well.
Instead of placingthe toilet paper in the toilet when finished, place it in a covered waste receptical and empty every day or two. The least amount of solids (including paper) that you put in the septic tank, the easier it is to break everything down and eliminate it, not requireing it to be emptied or emptied frequently.
Make sure the paper you do use is septic safe. There are some out there (Charmin) that say you can use it,however, I know more people who have had problems with that brand, then anything else
Feed it bacteria....they sell septic bacteria in home stores. Use it and it will keep the organisms that keep your tank 'healthy' working for you.
Try to set up a grey system where water that doesn't have to go into the septic doesn't...wash water can run on the ground or to trees, and wont waste space in the tank. Some people have systems that do this with their sinks and showers, as well. Might be something you want to look into.

A lot depends on how you "treat" it. If you are continuously putting grease, oil and large amounts of caustic chemicals, it could be every couple of years. I don't like to see disposals on a septic system either. I had one in Florida for twelve years without ever pumping. Everyone in the house knew not to flush certain things down the drains or toilet. Old saying was "If it didn't go through you, it shouldn't go down the drains". This is a little overkill but has it's merits.

Only when it gets full or backs up (your toilet doesn't flush or you hear a gurgling sound in the sink or "water" back up in the sink when you flush the toilet). Now that me and my three brothers and sisters are out of my parents house, they haven't had to empty the septic tank in about three years. I would recommend buying some stuff in the supermarket or at Wal-Mart that you flush down the toilet that assists the bacteria in breaking down the toilet paper, etc. As long as you have a properly working drainage field and not many people in the house, you can go years without needing to get it emptied.

Septic tanks should only have to be pumped once every few years (if then) if it is working properly. and the drainfield/drywells are draining properly The most common cause of frequent pumping is putting grease ,bleach heavy detergents or cleaning solvents in system which kills the anerobic /bacterial action and the system gets filled with solids in fact unnecessary pumping is not helpful because it takes awhile for the bacteria to develop enough to work properly

You don't have to have your septic tank pumped out on any particular time period. If you are carefull about what you flush down the drain, what laundry detergent you use, and add a product like Ridex periodically, you might be able to go for years without having it pumped.

basically watch what you place down the drain. easily no longer grease or oil. Use difficulty-unfastened experience in what you enable circulate into the septic equipment and you should be solid for a protracted time. no ought to rigidity relating to the equipment backing up until you spot gunk coming returned into your downstairs bath or bathe (or basement, whichever is lowest on your place.) proceed employing the Rid-Ex in case you want, it does not harm. We used our septic equipment for over two decades and by no potential had a situation with it. by no potential had it pumped out the two. in case you ever ought to have it pumped, and in case you comprehend the place this is, there could be no, or minimum, harm to the backyard interior the small section above the tank and it may at as quickly as recuperate. Take care..........
