My hot taps work in the bath and sink in the bathroom. Although the one in the kitchen does not work, it just runs cold.
I was told it would be an air lock and so turned the main water tap off, then the bath and sink taps on , let them run dry and then turned the main tap back on, and this should have freed the air lock if any. The kitchen tap was hot after this had been done but after turning it off again and going back to it later again it wasn't working.
I'm now on here looking for another possible diagnosis to solve the problem as it didn't work. Does anybody know how I can get it to work. Please only answer this if you do.

Thank you!

first of all,, dont bother draining your water tank down again,, if you have mixer taps on your kitchen sink, open up hot tap, put hand over spout, the open cold tap, letting the cold water go up your hot water pipe,, if this doesnt work,, do as above, but get a friend to put their hand over, the open vent,, which is the pipe going into the top of the large tank up in your loft,
if youve got no mixer taps on kitchen sink,, try any other mixer taps in house,,,less chance of clearing it this way
if youve still got no hot water, and you have two washing machine valves , one hot, and one cold,,, connect them up with one washing machine hose, and open both valves.
i normally try sucking the hot water out with a wet vacum first, but most people havent got one. so try all of the above.
good luck

The best way to cure an air lock is to take a short length of hose and secure one end to the cold tap and the other end to the hot tap. Gently open both taps at the same time. The cold water being at mains pressure will force the air lock out of the hot water pipe and into the hot water cylinder where it will vent out.

Make sure the ends of the hose are TIGHT. You should hear the air bubbling out if you listen at the hot water cylinder.

If the hot tap runs cold water then it can't be an air lock in the hot water supply pipe. Have you adjusted any other control settings or changed the system?
