I like the Brazilian Cherry (2360) and The Camaru (3540) or Barzilian Teak. We want select grade and pre-finished.

Are either of these sufficient for two 20 pound beagles? We have 330 square foot (need 360 w/ waste) and I am thinking I want to put on stair treads (5). Looked at www.lumberliquidators.com and found decent price of $3.83/sq for the brazilian cherry and $4.35 for the Brazilian Teak. the dimensions are 3/4"x2 1/4" pre-finished, select grade.

Any suggestions for cheaper alternatives. Want real wood.

Thanks!

We moved into our ex-council house 3 years ago. We bought it from a private owner, not the council. The owner before the pervious one converted the loft into a large room about 10 years ago. It appears to be done correctly, well insulated, proper staircase, fire door etc. We are re-locating and want to sell the house but there is no documentation for the conversion.

Is there some law that exempts planning permission after a certain amount of time? Or if we try and get documentation from the local council will they order us to put it back the way it was? This is Scotland and usually the law differs from England. We basically want to class it as a bedroom as it is huge with about 8' in height.

My countertop is looking pretty rough. Can I paint it? I just don't want to put something on it that isn't safe for foods being prepared, or something that is going to peel. Thank you.

a floating shelf? http://www.argos.co.uk/wcsstore/argos/images/8758866AE04UC97320M.jpg

I want it to be secure, as i am going to keep throwing knives in there, so it has to have a lock, and it has to look like a normal shelf.

possibly make it with the bottom on special hinges so when u press a catch release button on the side, the bottom pops open and reveals the knives.

Anyone seen Mr and Mrs Smith? kinda like the cooker, just less high tech!

We're told by experts to save costs, by turning central heating thermo down one degree and this will save us 10% on our heating bill.

Ok. Weve got all the tiles off the bathroom wall, and have found the wall behind is chipboard sort of stuff, and its damp. Obviously the previous lot of tiles let some water in, what is the best thing to do now?

Should I let the wall dry out? Any ideas on how to help this speed along?

Or does the wall need replacing?

When I re-tile, im going to tile further up the wall and put some sealant round this time!

I have these metal leaf-shaped pieces, and I want them to rust. I've been soaking them in water for about a week, but it's not helping much. Is there anything else I can do to speed up the process, or are there any products that will actually make metal rust?

I'm going to weld a couple of pieces of steel together. What would clean the surface better, gasoline or acetone? It doesn't have any existing paint on it.
