I would like to install vinyl floor covering on my own in the kitchen, but what do I do about the white wood panelling on the bottom of the wall? Can I take it off myself and how? Do I then buy knew ones or put back the old ones?
Thanx anyone who can help; the company that wants to install it wants to charge a ridiculous amount for seeminly easy work!

I have a hugh red brick fireplace that's 23 years old and want to update it by painting it a lighter color to make it appear more modern. I don't want to ruin it by doing it wrong. Any advise would be appreciated.

Hello, I am part of an NGO that is looking for details of some of the inexpensive construction materials to build a water tank(sump) into the ground that can hold 1000 liters. I found that locally available mud mixed with cowdung and than lime plasted can work. Will this method work? I also heard about digging a hole and covering with plastic layer. Are there any alternatives? Our budget is US$7:00 per sump in south India. Labor is free.

My daughter sprayed pump (non-aerosol) OFF! bug spray on my dining room table. Although I wiped it off within a minute or two, and immediately tried to clean off the remnants with Old English cleaner, it left marks in the finish. I don't know whether it ate the finish away or if the marks are just topical (i.e., on top of the finish). Any ideas on what I can do to restore the finish without completely stripping the tabletop and refinishing it?
Thanks!

I need to find the number of ballusters and the spacing between them. I want an equal spacing between the ballusters. I also want the same spacing between the posts and the nearest balluster. I want to keep the spacing around 3 1/2 inches. It can not be over 4 inches. The distance between the posts ranges from 53 inches to 61 inches. The width of the ballusters in 1 1/4 inches.

I have a rolling desk chair that I need to take apart. One of the screws in it, however, has a worn-out head that I cannot unscrew.

I tried drilling into it, but even after 10 minutes of drilling, I only got about a millimeter into the head. I even tried to use a hammer and flat-head screwdriver to try and "carve" a new head on the screw, but that didn't work (the screw wasn't even dented).

Anyone know how I can remove this stubborn screw?

My hallway has 5 recessed can lights each with a 75watt bulb operated on the same switch. I would like to install a 5-bulb halogen track light in the middle of the hallway to illuminate wall art. Can I remove the bulb and insert from the middle cannister fixture, cut the wires to the bulb receptacle and use the same wires to power up the track light. The track light with 5 bulbs will consume 150 watts through a low voltage transformer. Is this safe? The cannister light sticker says 75-watts maximum.

I'm painting walls in a bedroom, but not the ceiling. It's got an acoustic ceiling (please no "scrape it down" advice, not in the plans). Is it possible to tape off the edge of the ceiling so I don't get the wall color on it? Will the tape stick without pulling the ceiling material down when I take it off?

The wood could be about 3 " thick & 3 or 4 foot around' maybe with bark still on the 3 or 4 inch edge I will do the finish work , and any type of wood with a nice grain redwood would be nice but I think cost would be to much.
