I would like to install vinyl floor covering on my own in the kitchen, but what do I do about the white wood panelling on the bottom of the wall? Can I take it off myself and how? Do I then buy knew ones or put back the old ones?
Thanx anyone who can help; the company that wants to install it wants to charge a ridiculous amount for seeminly easy work!

A "wonder bar" is used to pry wood and remove nails. It is a much shorter (12"), slimmer, wider crow bar that carpenters use. It's a very popular tool of carpenters. Stanley makes one. Even a putty knife can get in narrow places without leaving a mark like a screwdriver may. Use the wide (4") putty knife. It's a little stronger.

No matter how hard you try, you will probably leave little marks on the wall. You may decide to put new baseboard back instead of using the old. Pry only where there is a stud, or you may pop a hole in the sheetrock wall. There usually is a stud every sixteen inches. Also, pry from underneath the molding.

installing vinyl is easy, if you can cut straight. Get a butter knife and see if you can slide it under the wood trim. If you can. Lay the vinyl so the pattern looks square with the walls, very carefully go around cutting off the excess until it fits under the trim. If it is the glue down type, roll it back to the center of the room, apply glue to the floor and slowly roll it back into place, pressing out the air bubbles as you go, using your hands and or a roller. If you can't slide the knife under the trim, add quarter round trim after the vinyl is down

you could leave the base boards alone and install the vinyl when you're finished with all the installation and don't forget the seam sealer if you have to seam 2 peaces together and install shoe molding where you have the base boards that will keep the edges from curling back up in the future good luck
