Our warm BBQ was stolen out of the yard a few days ago. We notified the police but now we are nervous and want to spend a few bucks on thief prevention. We will chain the new BBQ up this time, but besides that, what can we do to effectively make our house less of a target?

My color scheme that I have going on is dark purple accented with an antique green/gold color! The room is dark as I have only an atrium door that provides day light. We have a brand new fridge, and stuff came up and we ended up having to move alot sooner then expected. I don't want to sell our fridge, I'd rather ship it if possible. I'm wondering how I would go about shipping it. Where would I go to ship and how would I pack it for freight? It weighs about 400 lbs. so I wonder if shipping is practical or if we should just get another. We paid almost $700 for it.

My friend is remodelling a room that had an old man smoker renter in it for about 2 yrs. We have tried opening the windows and using Febreeze but it still is REALLY stinky. Does anyone have any "home remedies" for permanent smoke smell removal?

What is the best subfloor you can get for your bathroom? Our bath tub feels like it is going to fall through the floor due to years of leaking. We finally fixed the leak but now there is a giant soft spot in front of the tub. What can we do to fix this?

Due to my acid reflux, my doctor said I should raise the head of my bed 6 inches with blocks. Anyone do this before? What is the best thing to use? I thought about getting a 2 by 4 and cutting into pieces then nailing them together. I'm concerned that if they aren't stable that the bed may slip and come crashing down some night.

I don't want to invest too much in an apartment I'm renting, but I would like to make the basement look nicer for card party's, etc. It's not very big, about 14 ft. by 20 ft. My main problem is the ceiling. I would like to cover up all the pipes, vents, wiring, etc. but it needs to be something I can tear down when I leave. Thanks.

He doesn't want to pay for professional roofer and has put a roof on a small building he built. Our ceilings are leaking, and the professional roofer who gave us a $3000 quote (somebody who was well-recommended) said he'd be putting a new roof over the existing one (you can do that with one layer).

I'm wondering if my husband has the expertise...

He's relatively handy, but not a construction worker by any means.
It's great that he's willing, but I'm wondering if there's more to roofing than meets the eye...

I've done a lot of research into this and it appears that Tung oil (ideal for its low odours) or acrylic laquer (high odours) are the most commonly used ones.
It would be great if you guys can confirm this and maybe tell me exactly which one to buy at which store within London as there are so many variations on offer when i visit these stores.

It has a slight 'stippled' effect, sort of rough to touch.

How do I achieve this? I have only ever rendered to smooth finish before. Its not a very big area so the cheaper, the better.

Thanks
