If your old one is gas they should be able to hook you up w/ a new line. If not you will need a line installed. Different areas have different codes on this so check around. It's not difficult but must be leak tight so often an inspector must be called in. The only case where a gas stove would need any electricity would be for lights some timers etc. Otherwise just connect the fittings and slide in the biscuits.

if it's a gas stove then there is already a connection. Turn it on.
They should bring a new flexable gas line. The old one could be 30 years old. Replace it.
He may mean that they can't connect it if the old one was electric.
If your new stove has an electric oven, then you must find out if it's 110 or 220 volts. That will make a difference.
You may have to have an electrician install the 220 line.

when you buy stoves now the cords and gas flex lines dont come with them and you usually have to have new ones call and see if they are bringing the cord and flex gas line and any fittings to connect to what you have a 30 year old gas stove connection
