I don't want to invest too much in an apartment I'm renting, but I would like to make the basement look nicer for card party's, etc. It's not very big, about 14 ft. by 20 ft. My main problem is the ceiling. I would like to cover up all the pipes, vents, wiring, etc. but it needs to be something I can tear down when I leave. Thanks.

I saw on a tv show that they used long pieces of fabric and you could tack it up or staple it. get it at a discount place or on sale and Use different colors or patterns to add some pizzazz to the room.

I have installed luan plywood on a basement ceiling with good results. Just make sure that the luan has a good grain on the finished side for best appearance. It can be coated with polyurethane to bring a luster to the wood and it also darkens the color slightly. The only drawback is visible seams.

for this type of situation , I think what looks real cool and is not permant nor expensive , is to get a cloth tapestry and hang it from the celing , tack it around the edges and put a few tacks in the middle and kinda let it drop in a few spots so it has a three deminisonal quality to it ............. this should be the ticket here ............good luck
