We have a brand new fridge, and stuff came up and we ended up having to move alot sooner then expected. I don't want to sell our fridge, I'd rather ship it if possible. I'm wondering how I would go about shipping it. Where would I go to ship and how would I pack it for freight? It weighs about 400 lbs. so I wonder if shipping is practical or if we should just get another. We paid almost $700 for it.

We live in CA and we're moving to NY, almost 3,000 miles away, so obviously U-Haul isn't an option. We're getting rid of everything but the small stuff, all that's going to be shipped with Greyhound. The fridge is the only large item I'd like to keep.

You'll pay nearly that much to ship it too... check out UPS.. of other frieght lines and get a quote.. you may find you are better off selling it and buying a new one..

Alternative it moving it yourself in a truck.. that might be cheaper.. that a freight line

Check with the local bus station, by train, a moving company etc. Get your yellow pages out and track down the companies mentioned. I think that will work.

UPS Freight is probably the best place to try first. They do big items, in addition to smaller packages:
