What type of machinery is needed to dig a basement? I was told a backhoe, but is this really best, and is there a certain kind to rent? What does one of these cost to rent, and how long will it be needed usually?

I just remodeled my garage into a room and when I taped the joints in the sheet rock I got a few bubbles in the tape. Is there an easy way to get rid of these? I thought of cutting the bubbles open and putting in some glue, and then I thought that I would give someone a chance to get 10 points before I did that.

I know this sounds funny, but we had oh so much trouble doing this today. We just bought a 8*5 trailer. We have posts on either side of the driveway. Then there are support posts for carport. Then we have to back it into the garage, which only has about 12 inches of clearance on either side, so not a lot of margin for error. Anyone have any words of wisdom on how to do this??

Is there an alternative sand to use besides high priced playsand for the base of my "soft set" block patio? And where would be a good place to look for it?

I am buying a home which has 200amp service however the home inspector stated that the "feed line" and meter are only 100amps. I have been told by an electrician that the meter can handle 200amps, however I am still concerned about the line from the meter to the service panel and the "feed line." Is there a way to tell if the meter and line can handle 200amps. The previous home owner seemed to have no problems running major appliances together. Any info would be great.

I have hideous 4.25" ceramic wall tiles from the floor to 4' high around my bathroom. I want them gone, but I'm not psyched about the cost, mess and effort of removing them all and retiling. Here's my plan: Mount a 1x4" horizontally, flat against the top row of tiles. Then add 1x2" mounting strips horizontally across the surface of the tiles, in the middle and along the floor. Then nail panelling to the strips, and mount another 1x4" flat on the top as a sort of gallery shelf/trim piece. If well sealed and painted with an appropriate bathoom paint, is there any reason this wouldn't work, or shouldn't be done? My main concern is how thick the total application would end up being, since the tiles themselves appear to be attached to 1/2" cement board placed against the original plaster walls. With the cement board, tiles, mounting strips and paneling, it would be ~ 2.5" from the surface of the panel to the surface of the wall. Any thoughts on this approach?

I've just moved into a new flat and the combi boiler is showing 0 pressure. I turn on the tap on the filling loop and there seems to be a lot of water entering the system but the pressure is not going up. It just stays on zero. I don't want to turn on the filling tap too long incase there is a big hole and the guy in the flat downstairs gets very wet. There is no sign of water leaking out of a radiator. So how long does it normally take to repressurise a combi system? Is it a couple of seconds or do I leave the tap on for minutes? Any help would be great. Thanks

Have new neighabors who cut all the underbrush away from the forest in their yard, they also leave the spotlight on all night. My bedroom is now lit up like a christmas tree, and they can see into my room, and now i can see into their kitchen and family room, help I need some privacy. I need some help with window tinting, or a dark window screen, any ideas?
