I am in college and am using the dorm's sewing machine. The pattern calls for machine basting and I am not sure how to do this. It is a typical singer machine. Also I was wondering if hand basting would be easier.

Secondly, I am going to have to gather the dress at the seams. But I am not sure what the best way to do that is.

There is a bit of metallic trim between the tub and they vinyl, and at one point it must have acted as a sealer, but now water is seeping right through the floor. Is the best solution just to calk the area where the tub meets the floor? Or is there a better solution?

I am prepping my 35 year old garage floor to apply rustoleum epoxy shield coating. With it being older it has very heavy oil/grease stains that are still there after using a concrete concentrate cleaner and on a different day using krud kutter.... I know not to mix chemicals. The epoxy shield system comes with a citric acid granuale cleaner, but I am not sure if it will remove the stains to have a good bond for the final epoxy coating. Any suggestions on what to use? Thanks

I'm laying my first floor next weekend and I plan on putting a peice underneath and horizontal across the entry door. That said, I was planning on racking the rest of the floor so that the pieces that meet the door come in at an exact 90 degree angle. Visually this would make everything look straight across the room when you enter. The problem is we've found that our main vertical wall is off by over three inches on the far end. I prefer to have the difference on the wall but what's the best practice here? Should I miter a single peice for down the wobbly wall (and keep my 90 degree angle at the door) or should I line up the rack with the wall and miter an angle for each peice the touches the door?

The piece should look like this. Ugh, text pic not coming out. Nevermind that.

Those grooves would be a few inches long and about 1/4" to 3/4" deep. Basically, yeah, they're 4" square grooves that are about 3/4" deep or so.

If I could use a router, what type bit? I'm confused how it would route a square rather than a circle at the far edges.

Thanks,
Matt

Can i still do a full rewire to my own house if :-

I contact the building control office and inform them before work begins?

Can i rewire any room in the house inc bathroom/kitchen assuming the b/control with have the final say on the work complying with regulations.

(with the cost of a profestional re-wire standing at £2-3,000 to me this is a fortune considering material costs being only say £4-500 pounds)

I am a keen diy person who would work to or exceed the standard of a trained person to run cables/sockets etc taking time and care for quality.

Lastly safety is vital so building control passing the work A1 goes without saying.

So can i do the work myself on a labour cost saving basis?
