I don't know of a household product but if you go to Best Buy or Circuit City you can get cleaners that remove light scratches, cleans, and polishes. They work on DVDs too.

One thing I always did was use a soft cloth and toothpaste. Just put a ittle dab of toothpaste, enough to make a slight glaze over the CD. Keep buffing until the toothpaste eventually is rubbed off. Do this for multiple areas (a dab slightly smaller than a pea, 4-5 areas of the cd) of the cd. Anymore and it becomes a hassle to rub off. Rub in a circular motion, don't wipe from the inside to out.

This only works for mild to slightly bad scratches. Extreme gouges or a meat cleaver to the cd shoudl require you to just buy a new cd. This worked for each cd I've done it for.

Once a CD is scratched, it's scratched. You can clean a cd, all you need is a little dish soap and water... just make sure it's completely (and carefully) dried off :)

Toothpaste (not the gel crap), uh freezing it, rubbing alcohol, go buy a new CD, I've heard of burning it (I don't recommend that), I've heard hair conditioner, and perfume (not eau de toilette)

Try plain ole toothpaste...not the gel kind. Use it with a clean cloth.
