I have a light beech-coloured laminate floor,
My curtains and storage boxes are dark brown,
I also have some seagrass baskets,
My bedcovers are black and white flowers
I currently have light blue walls because I was going for the surfery look with my floors too, but I have a lot of gothicy Victoriany burlesquey items like dressing table and mirrors.
I was thinking a deep purple, any other suggestions?

What wood is best to use that I could paint on with just normal matte emulsion type paint, and do you know where I could get a cheapy wardrobe, except ebay?

Hi, I'm trying to choose what colour roman blinds to have in my bedroom. My walls are cream (doors and skirting boards are white) The carpet is a deep heather/pink colour (I think more pink then purple though) my furniture is white. Could anyone suggest a colour of roman style blind that would look good, I'm guessing the carpet is the dominant colour, the walls are the medium colour so I guess I am looking for an accent, white possibly? or is that to stark? Help!! I have no idea!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks x

Hi Guys, I have an open plan living room and kitchen. My living room walls are half magnolia and half terracotta. I am wanting to change the appearance of my kitchen tiles using tile transfers (taking the tiles off and replacing them is too expensive and time consuming) and i would like some ideas on what would look nice in terms of colour scheme etc. Would terracotta mosaic be too overpowering? Comments much appreciated. Thanks

I plan on being a union carpenter and after I become a journeyman (and can afford it) I plan to start flipping houses, because I think I can save more money then most people doing it.... if I can do most of the work myself. Is this true????

Which will give us the most bang for our buck? Which shows crumbs less? Which looks the most expensive without being the most expensive. Which gives our home the most re-sale value? Which is eco-friendly? Anything out there made with re-cycled products? Thanks for your help, Val

I want to install bead board over the nasty, plastic faux marble walls in my bathroom. I do not think any amount of priming and painting would be able to adhere to this material - I've never even seen it before. There are joints where it meets that would show through paint too, so I am going to install bead board over it. It seems like the simplest solution.

How do I do this? Do they sell it at Home Depot or Lowe's? Should I make a pattern to cut the boards out with or simply measure? Please Help, I can't stand the plastic walls anymore!!!

I love the idea of soaking fabric in liquid starch and putting it on the wall (i'm renting so I really dont want to paint and then re-paint when I move)... but I need ideas of what to put around the fabric so that it doesnt LOOK like JUST fabric on a wall... I had thought about getting flowers/twigs from Michaels or another craft store to put up as like a frame... but what other options are there?

For WATER-BASED paint, how long does it continue giving off fumes AFTER it has dried?

Obviously, there are fumes given off when the paint is wet, but I've heard that fumes continue even after it has dried.

Please be specific and provide the source of your information-- the more credible the source the better.

Thank you

Ok our ceilings are vaulted & look the same throught the whole upper level. The bead board is pine & is nautral (unfinished), the cabinets are maple. as you can see the beams are pretty dark, which looks nice. so with the cabinets & ceiling being light, we arent sure on how dark the hardwood floor should be. i like one a little darker that also has lighter pieces. but should we stay light?

Also our counter is very colorful yet nuetural at the same time. alot of greens, browns & tans even an almost pink or salmon color. its granite & very unique. But it could match with pretty much any wood.

Any help is appreciated! I have below links for pictures of the counter, cabinets & ceiling.
