golden walls would look nice with red for a warm tone. You could accent with purple for a really moroccan look. But first look around the rest of the house to see what would really flow with your overall style

Golds, cremes, or tans would work well. Black would be a perfect accent color.
The best way to find the perfect wall color would be to find a rug (oriental?) that has several colors and pick one from it. An oriental rug brings with it a safe sophistication that warms the room.
The next best way would be in throw pillows of patterned fabric containing goldish-tan, red and perhaps black or whatever other color might be in the rug, as they will make the sofa quite inviting.
Your computer table might look better stained a darker color (or even painted black) The table should be accompanied by one or more chairs that are upholstered for comfort and color. The upholstery should have a pattern that complements the pillows, or even the same pattern and colors as the pillows on the sofa.
A collection of encyclopedias bound in black, red or navy would look great on the computer table. Desk lamps and table lamps with intricate ceramic bases -- Oriental, possibly -- would complement the rug. Fill empty spaces on end tables and bookshelves with family pictures. Add a few candles in navy or black.
For draperies, use the real thing - not blinds or sheers. Fabric drapes fully lined on wood decorator rods will be perfect for this room. The fabric can be red - patterned or solid.
Use your imagination and have fun. :) I have a feeling this will be one outstanding room!
Hope this helps.

Use earth tones to make the red furniture stand out. I like "down home" by Sherwin Williams:

How about a neutral shade of gray, beige/eggshell, or you could leave them white and put some border around it with a different print.
