I want to paint a light color of semi gloss over black semi-gloss, is there a product that would lighten the dark paint so that I don't have to put on lots of coats of the lighter color?

I have a longish narrow hallway and have just stripped it of its hideous polystyrene ceiling tiles and yellow woodchip wallpaper. Now want to lay some wood flooring and paint it to create illusion of a light, welcoming space. Very little natural light, although a bit brighter at the far end as light comes through a glass panelled door from my west facing sitting room. Any ideas gratefully received.

I have several pieces of white resin patio furniture that are heavily stained and I am wondering whether I might be able to paint them to make them look better. If I can do this, what kind of paint should I use?

I own a cape cod style home. Our basement stairs are not code, riser 8.75 inches high and tread is 10 inch and it would be impossible to make them code given the current distance of the rise and run. We ended up replacing them with a custom staircase. We don't have enough room to make the staircase longer it would hit the wall. Could a home inspector make us replace them if they are not code? When we go to sell?

A cure that I came across indicates that I need to put a mirror on the outside of the bathroom door. However it would face a staircase going down. At the bottom of the staircase is a closet (closed) Would it still be okay to have the mirror in this position? Feng Shui knowledgable people only please.

Im a housewife, and a mother to a 5yr old daughter. The house were renting is small & cluttered. We have too much stuff for this little house.. We have a storage that we can hardly afford and its stuffed to the max. I have a kitchen but im using it as our 2nd storage. I know what your saying, "give, trash stuff" its not that easy.. all this stuff is "good" stuff.. whenever we move into our own real house, all this stuff will come in handy. Plus my daughter has TONS of toys.. and there everywhere, my hubby is a computer fixit guy and he has computer cords piling up in our closet.. so many cords, we cant hang any clothes.. and there not even neat cords either.. its one big tangled up mess and he wont let me throw away any of it!!! we dont have a table to eat at so we eat in the living room on the couch, our bedroom is extra small with an extra small closet it holds about 15 things to hang.. so clothes are all over everywhere . I just feel like im suffocating in all this stuff

I would like to create a simple patio but have no building skills whatsoever. Is it possible to lay spaced paving slabs on compacted earth with gravel in the spaces between them?

If so, what is the best way to compact the earth? Do I need a membrane layer? Can I lay slabs directly onto a membrane?
Should I have some sort of slope?

Any other advice much appreciated. I have zero practical skills.
