Well that's one way to avoid washing the dust off of them!
If you were interested in creating an unusual wall "effect" with the smoky curls and heat flash, you will find it difficult for the new paint to stick over the soot.
I'll bet your wife/girlfriend is out checking out the antique stores to see if there ever was such a thing as asbestos curtains!

If they were flame retardant they melted & dripped fire to the floor right? You were needing new ones tho anyway weren't you?
