RE:
Need colour scheme tips for my dark hallway?
I have a longish narrow hallway and have just stripped it of its hideous polystyrene ceiling tiles and yellow woodchip wallpaper. Now want to lay some wood flooring and paint it to create illusion of a light, welcoming space. Very little natural light, although a bit brighter at the far end as...

Laying some laminate flooring and painting the walls a bright neutral colour will lighten up the hallway. Try adding a lamp as a feature to give it extra light. If there is a window nearby, don't cover it up.

Very soft butters or creams; buttery creams?
Paint the ceiling 2-3 shades lighter than the walls.
You mentioned that the hallway is narrow and long, does it have a tunnel feeling? If so, paint the back wall which faces you as you walk down the hallway a darker color, or wall paper it. If there is a door on that wall, then you can just paint the door a darker color. That brings the door up to you visually and puts an end to that tunnel feeling.

I don't know your taste, but if you're up for something fresh, unique, and really beautiful, try this. Paint the walls a light turquoise blue, very light aqua like the Caribbean Sea. This part takes nerve, but not much talent. Dribble from the ceiling some streaks of white, some brown, some bronze, some gold. Just let it run. Use a light hand, almost like a wash of color. I love the effect; you might.

We too have a very dark hallway, we have put down light laminated wooden floor and painted the hall in a hint of colour, it looks a lot brighter and lighter now.

A mirror opposite the light source will bounce more light around the hallway. Painting in light neutral tones will help along with a pale wooden floor. Also avoid clutter, hide your coats and shoes in a cupboard.
Finally, a smart halogen light fitting will bring it up to date. Get rid of those hideous light bulb on a flex fittings, nothing more than a fly's toilet!.

Go to your local floral shop and go through their bouquet books. They usually have pics there of the whole group. You might find something there. I always thought dark green and cream/ivory went super great together. It's a more softer version and doesn't have the eye opening POP that you're going to see with pure white and a super dark. While you're there, see what else goes with the dark green in flowers...I'm sure you're gonna pick another color for complimentary reasons in your bouquet. Best Wishes.

Seduction from Dulux is a nice colour for a narrow hallway, I have it, its yellow but not bright yellow, like a warm yellow, good for brightening up a dark place.

hi, lamnate floors, cream walls - good old magnolia - not white - too harsh. and use mirrors. if you can get it to reflect the bit of natural light u have then do so, if not or if it looks awkward in that spot then put up a long mirror running along the length of the wall (or a fair proportion of the length of the wall). Stick a lamp somewhere a tall skinny floor lamp would be ideal for adding more light. i forsee a trip to ikea coming up for you! they do really cheap mirrors and lighting.
good luck!
