need to change color of tiles around my bathtub

2007-01-22 04:07:54 · 7 answers · asked by HARMALE S 1

I just moved in to a new apartment. The living and dining rooms are connected by a large doorway, and I'd like to make some curtains that would match both colours. The living room is a lemongrass and the dining room is a nice brick red tone. I know it sounds like they clash, but they really blend quite nicely. I'm looking for a colour that will blend with both, any suggestions?

We are adding a closet to one of our bedrooms and using the eaves from the house. Since the ceiling is slanted does anyone have any ideas how to do the closet. Its going to be a walk in closet. Any websites that you know of?

Here are the details.
I live in a house that I rent. I do NOT own. I stress this because there are certain things that I cannot do to the house. That being said..
What I want is some advice on how to fix my basement so that it is liveable. It is now a storage area. The floor is not done, nor is the ceiling. I want to consolidate all our junk and have more space. But I need some ideas of what I can do to the space. Espcially the ceiling and the floor. The gas and hot water are also down there. They are in a corner so I thought I could block them off. Any and all advice is appreciated (well within reason) Thank you so much for your help. Please ask any question if you need and I will try to get back to you soon as I can.

I've just bought a new fitted kitchen - it's high gloss white with chrome handles, the fitten appliances will be metallic too. The work surface is high gloss black and white speckles. So, i wanted to tile round the part that that has all the units and appliances, and then i have 1 wall which is completely bare, except for radiator (ie kitchen is round 3 out of 4 walls in a u shape). I was thinking of shiny black tiles round the units, but have no idea what to put on the other wall. Tiling would be too expensive for us so i was thinking of papering and painting, but what colour? or maybe i shouldnt use black tiles? any ideas? it's very confusing and as this is our 1st kitchen i havent got any experience of what does and doesnt work well in that area! thank you

I wondered if anyone has ever tried to fit their own fitted kitchen? Is it something my partner and i could manage (except for electrics and gas which we'd get professonals in for)? Homebase wanted to charge £2500 for a tiny kitchen, so we're contemplating taking it into our own hands! any thoughts? similar experience?

Bamboo can be made into counter tops.
Can the same type of thing be done as an alternative to traditional, hardwood flooring?

My basement is a little chilly at times. I noticed for walls that are out facing to the outside with the cement there is no insulation. Would you go to the trouble of cutting a piece of drywall in between each stud which is about 35 of them , and blow insulation down there, or just go with a fireplace to heat it. Would the insulation make much of a difference? our basement is in illinois and underground.

The floor has already been refinished and I was told at that time, that it likely could not be resanded.
The floor is in rough shape so painting? white washing? is being considered

Our apartment doesn't have AC and gets very hot in the spring/summer. What kinds of curtains or panels keep out the light and heat best? Something inexpensive, since we'll need to buy 6 of them.

i have decent hardwood throughout my old home, and just pried up the kitchen floor...two subfloors and two layers of tile...just got through scraping up the tar looking adhesive off that wood...the wood in the kitchen is different than the rest of the house..it is light blond color, no knots and is about 3 1/4 inches wide...i'm not sure what it is....we do not want to finish it professionally, but we want to maybe sand it a bit and add some protectant..don't know what to use...any ideas?

Okay. My room is kinda small, and it has a black wall with purple stripes and all the other walls are purple. It is rock and roll/punk themed kinda. I also cut out a piece of wood in the shape of a guitar and I put different pictures on it of my favorite bands and stuff. The wood was from a table before, but since my room is small I though I would just hang the guitar part on my wall. But the trouble I am having is finding a bedspread/comforter to use. I thought it would be easy to find a rock and roll one but it was hard to. So if any one can find one or has any ideas of another one it would really help. I need answers to this really badly! Also, if you have any more ideas that would help too. Thanks everyone I really appreciate it!
