depends on what you want it for. Small things? buy fine. Other things buy regular. If you think you will be doing writing with it more than anything else then get fine. If you think you will be making heavy lines or writing on boxes more, then get regular. Fine point is for tedious things. Drawing faces, writing letters that need to be slightly bold, making notations in books. Regular comes out the size of a crayon.
