Paint is a simple & inexpensive way to change the look any of room. Maybe just buy a gallon of paint in a complimentary color to the lilac (maybe a pink or green) and do a 1 to 2 inch boarder at the top of the room & then use painter's tape to make a few rectangles and suares of color in the room. Good Luck.

I would paint your walls a darker colour.
Cherry is a dark wood and up against a very light wall may not go together.
You may find changing the colour of your walls might just do the trick. Then add a throw on the bed and art on the walls. Instead of prints choose your favourite pictures and hang a collage.

You can always add art in any coordinating(not matchy match) colors. Try a new bed covering(with lots of different pillows). If your not interested in painting the walls a different color, use fabrics to enhance the good and downplay the bad. You didnt specify your age, so im not sure what look you like.

My daughters room is lilac/lavendar. She has yellow toppers with lilac flowers in them. Her comforter is yellow floral also. It really brightens up the room. She has pics on the wall in black frames. Her furniture is antiqued white color and the armoire is a light wood finish. Looks great. Or if you don't like those colors, go with bright pinks and lime greens. Throw in oranges...make it fun. Use throw rugs, throw pillows, knick knacks...dont' be afraid to use color. Good Luck

Some big throw pillows in hot pink, lime green and purple, with some matching inexpensive framed prints on the walls, maybe of big flowers. Also a rug to match the pillows. Try Target or Wal-Mart.

Furry lamps, fuzzy pillows, Lacy drapes, and try beads that hang from the ceiling. Of course keep them in pastels like the rest of your room. Try going to Spencer's. Nothing is spicier than bedroom accessories from Spencer's. If you decide on getting a bedding curtain that drapes your bed, spend the little bit of extra money and get the big one. The small circular one falls on your head while you're sleeping. :D

good ideas given so far, fabric will spice it up if you dont want to repaint. get some semi see thru fabric, like a gauze, or lace, in a purple, and get some in lime green. drape it over your windows for curtains, and put it together to create a headboard over your bed, attach it to the walls with small nails or hooks that stick to the wall. add some little white lights, christmas lights to both the windows and headboard. add some plants, either silk or real, maybe a few pink flowers added to the curtains, or headboard, get them at walmarts or big lots.
good luck

Try buying a new comforter/sheets in a deep purple color or brown. Or if you have time, paint the walls a darker color. Nothing changes a room's appearance as well as a paint job. Put a plant or two in your room, or hang one from the ceiling.
