I'm on the commitee for my prom this year. We're working on deciding on a theme. I was thinking about a jazz theme. Would that be cool if we did a lot of black and white balloons and such? The building we're using is a really nice country club that doesn't give us a lot of options with decorating just because it already has furniture and chandeliers and stuff. But what could you call a prom that has a jazz theme besides All That Jazz? I think that's a cool title for it, but it reminds me of Chicago the musical, and I'm thinking we wouldn' want our prom night themed aroung that. So is there something else we could call it that just centers on the jazz era?

We have a average size room at our property in the country and have run out of money for the downstairs rec room and master bedroom. What can we do for a flooring treatment to make it look like a millon bucks. It's just a sub floor right now.We plan on surrounding our woodstove with ceramic tiles from the 'restore'(cheap!)and want to finish the rest of the room with a treatment that is easy on the budget and pleasing on the eyes. Can I paint the floor and if recommanded what kind of paint should I use. Thanks in advance for any help you may have.

I heard micro Fiber is great with stains and we are completely sold that thats the best option kid durability wise, but how does it meausre up to cat hair, is it impossible to get it off like velvet, or easy to wipe off? What has worked for you, he has claws so i think leather is a no-no too.

I am in the process of fixing up a bathroom in a rental I have. The base boards and door are dark chocolate brown. I want them to stay that colour. What colours can I paint the walls and what colours should I look for in either a tile or laminate floor?? Also there's this big ugly post in there that I also need to paint, maybe do something neat/different with that?

I have a multi-leveled house that has NO heating on the top level (where all the bedrooms are). We have a swamp cooler for air conditioning that runs through vents into the rooms. We have central heat in the basement and main level of the house. We also have a wood burning stove in the main level and a fireplace in the living room (that is just up a few stairs from the main level). What would be the least expensive way to get some kind of heating upstairs? Should we put in a whole separate heating unit, or is there a cheaper way to some how make it so we can use what we already have but vent it into the rooms somehow?
Any advice would be really helpful!
Thanks!

I know it's not laminate, but the wood floors I have are worn out and an ugly orangy-brown gloss.
I want to change the surface myself, and does it matter what type of surface it is before I change it, and how do I change to a different wood tone?
I also heard some people just scrape down the surface for the old worn look...
any suggestion and help please

My husband and I are going to paint our wood paneling in our basement. It has a glossy look to it. Do I need to sand before priming or can I just prime and paint? Should I use a special kind of primer?

I'm interested in doing a few small projects in my condo (refacing cabinets, new flooring, new countertops), but I'm having trouble finding a contractor. Places like Lowes and Home Depot seem to be geared towards big home remodeling projects.

My real estate agent was a nightmare, so I wouldn't trust anyone she suggested. And my boyfriend and dad are very capable, but it would take forever, it would be completely inconvenient for them, and I want to do this on my own since it's my place.

Any suggestions?

I know that in a small appt./house there should be a harmony of colors even when somebody paitnts different rooms in different colors..I am going to buy a three bedroom appt.I have, so far, made up my mind to follow a cream and coffee/chocolate brown color scheme for my drawing room. The drawing - dining room is of "L" patteren, so I have to choose the same color scheme for the adjacent dining room too.I 've a lot of accessories, furnitures.tablewares to match the scheme. So I don't want to change my mind about the color scheme. But I do not want to follow the same for all of my three bedrooms, kitchens and bathroom. This is quite boaring.IAM FOND OF PASTELS.Please suggest me some other color scheme that will go well with the color of drawing -dining area.(this area is the common place from every room and naturally the largest open place. So by standing there every room should look harmonious in color scheme. ).Pls no yellow(except for kitchen)&blue(except for bathroom).
Thank u

My husband and I just bought our first house and we moved in June but other than things we use every day things have just been stacked around for many reasons. One of them being I ended up giving birth to our son at the same time we closed on the house and moved in. I have finally got all our everyday use items where I want them, kicked my husbands cats outside and reclaimed my master bath. (I became allergic during pregnancy and we had to lock them up.) and unpacked my boys rooms. Sooo I'm ready to start organizing things I store and my boys rooms. I'm hopeless at storing things we don't always use cause as soon as I do we need something and we (usually my husband) tears thru things looking for it and poof everythings a mess again. I'm going to invest in some clear plastic bins so we can see inside I think thats a start. But I am open to any and all storage and organization tips. Thanks

We have espresso colored furniture like our bed, night stands, and an armoir. Our comforter and curtains are a tan kinda light mocha color. What would be a good color or theme to tie all these things together. I need to find a color or theme so I can get wall art and accessories to finish up this room.
