My husband and I just bought our first house and we moved in June but other than things we use every day things have just been stacked around for many reasons. One of them being I ended up giving birth to our son at the same time we closed on the house and moved in. I have finally got all our everyday use items where I want them, kicked my husbands cats outside and reclaimed my master bath. (I became allergic during pregnancy and we had to lock them up.) and unpacked my boys rooms. Sooo I'm ready to start organizing things I store and my boys rooms. I'm hopeless at storing things we don't always use cause as soon as I do we need something and we (usually my husband) tears thru things looking for it and poof everythings a mess again. I'm going to invest in some clear plastic bins so we can see inside I think thats a start. But I am open to any and all storage and organization tips. Thanks

The challenge I'm facing in my boys rooms (they each have their own) is there are no closets in them. They share a closet out in the hallway and it's small about like a linen closet you would see in a bathroom. My closets in our apartment were bigger. I also homeschool so some school supplies are going in that closet too. I have a large storage closet in the bathroom walk in size and a shed out back. I guess my biggest problem with storage is I want everything to be easy to get to and that just isn't possible when you're stacking stuff in a closet. I'm working with a very low budget here. We just bought a house not much money left. Any tips PLEASE. I would love to hear from other moms especially. Thanks

The best way I have found to organise things and make space is to invest in those clear plastic storage containers you mentioned. Start by labelling one storage, two close at hand and three undecided. Fill the number one storage container(obviously you may need more then one container for each category) with things that you dont need but want to keep for momentos or keepsakes. Use the second container for things you/your family will need every day (like toys, photos etc) and keep the # two containers neatly against a wall. Use the third container for things you are not sure if you want to keep but do just in case (dont we all) the third container can be kept in the same place as the storage container. After 6 months the idea is that you bring the undecided container/s back out, and whatever is in it and hasnt been touched in six months should be thrown away or donated. Remember the more things you let go of the more room your life has for new things.

I have also found that an inexpensive way to hang clothes is to buy a couple of those self standing clothes racks. Your boys could have one each in their rooms and use the hallway cupboard for storage of school items.

I hope I havnt rambled on too much and have helped you in at least a little way. Goodluck
