I tried static gaurd, but its only short lasting.

rubbing with a dryer sheet totally works, I've done it! Works on animals too...I use the ones free of perfumes and things so they arent harmful to my cat, his hair stands straight up otherwise!

I'd buy Static Guard, it comes in an aerosol can and gets rid of static. Also, it wouldn't hurt for your health and skin and everything else to have a Humidifier in your house during the winter months, this will cut down on a lot of static electricity also.

You can spray it with anything and that should work...
