I have a multi-leveled house that has NO heating on the top level (where all the bedrooms are). We have a swamp cooler for air conditioning that runs through vents into the rooms. We have central heat in the basement and main level of the house. We also have a wood burning stove in the main level and a fireplace in the living room (that is just up a few stairs from the main level). What would be the least expensive way to get some kind of heating upstairs? Should we put in a whole separate heating unit, or is there a cheaper way to some how make it so we can use what we already have but vent it into the rooms somehow?
Any advice would be really helpful!
Thanks!

Electric panel heat
we are in the process of remodeling on a house with the same problem - no heat in bedrooms!?

$80 per panel - heats 100 sq ft... Cheap & energy efficient too

I've been burning wood for about 30 yrs now, my wife loves the heat it gives off. I would utilize your wood stove plus put another in that wasteful fireplace. I have an old "All Nighter" wood stove that heats my 1200 sq ft nicely. The stoves they have today are much more efficient but hey if it ain't broke don't fix it so that's why I keep what I have. I'm able to get wood easy without paying for it so I cut and split myself and it keeps you from getting fat in the winter months, I'm 53 and feel great. I use only 1 tank of oil a year and that's because I get lazy sometimes, you could also put registers in your floors to get more heat upstairs but if you ran 2 stoves I really don't think you'd need too, you should get enough up your stairwell and seeing heat rises it will get there. good luck

ALL THAT HEAT IS GOING UP, JUST CIRCULATE / MIX THE AIR IN THAT ROOM WITH THE 3RD FLOOR PUBLIC AREA AIR. PLENTY OF HEAT!

www.hydrosil.com/

They have electric base board heaters that work pretty nice.
You can go just about anyplace and get an electric baseboard heater or radiator.
