Find a store or stores that have a "Bridal Registery" service, (most larger department stores and even Walmart have them ). They will have a complete list of items needed by couples to start their first home together, from furniture to potato peelers. You are supposed to use the list to check off items for others to buy as gifts for you for your showers or your wedding. But in your case, you could use it now as a great overall list of basics you will need, and things you may not have thought of at all. I'm sure you can obtain these Bridal Registry lists online or in - store, without signing up, but there is no fee or obligation if you do sign up. So check out a few stores, and happy shopping !

go to WalMart. Take plenty of money or plastic. You will need
Kitchen: dishes, glasses, silverware, plasticware, table, chairs etc.
Living Room: sofa, chair, table or two, tv
Bedroom: bed, chest, sheets, blankets, pillows
Sweeper, broom, toaster, blender, mixer
My advice would be: go to the thrift store and you can find so many things there so cheap. (I wouldn't buy a used mattress)
