I know that in a small appt./house there should be a harmony of colors even when somebody paitnts different rooms in different colors..I am going to buy a three bedroom appt.I have, so far, made up my mind to follow a cream and coffee/chocolate brown color scheme for my drawing room. The drawing - dining room is of "L" patteren, so I have to choose the same color scheme for the adjacent dining room too.I 've a lot of accessories, furnitures.tablewares to match the scheme. So I don't want to change my mind about the color scheme. But I do not want to follow the same for all of my three bedrooms, kitchens and bathroom. This is quite boaring.IAM FOND OF PASTELS.Please suggest me some other color scheme that will go well with the color of drawing -dining area.(this area is the common place from every room and naturally the largest open place. So by standing there every room should look harmonious in color scheme. ).Pls no yellow(except for kitchen)&blue(except for bathroom).
Thank u

You are very wise to have this color scheme coz you can accessorize with it and change colors as you like.

I would suggest some green accents along with some gold and metallic gold accents. Greens can be in the light olive to lime green in pillows and area rugs, and metallic gold for art frames, mirror frames and any photo frames. Lampshades could be in a bright persimmon or pumpkin color, which you could also use in your pillows. It looks good with greens.

Remember to use gold candlesticks and tie the rooms together with a few large plants, real or silk. The emerald green color of the plant leaves could also be used to accessorize and would look nice with the lighter greens, and pumpkin color.

Enjoy your new home!

Sometimes keeping with the same warmth brown gives is a good idea, but for a more modern approach you should try adding a contrasting colour (cool colour)

Light olive green can go very well with brown schemes. And to tie an Olive green room with a brown room all you have to do is add something of the same colour, i.e; a fern or something decorative in the brown room and visa versa.

If you are undecided in any room continue with cream on the walls and that way you can add the accents as you go to match in with the other rooms.

I hope I have made a little sense with this and I wish you luck with your new home :)

Since this is the internet, I'm going to use web colors for my suggestions:

When reading this I think of a rainbow... so you start off with cream and coffee,
Then move into shades of light blue ADD8E6 and cornflower blue 6495ED.
Next I'd consider: light cyan E0FFFF and aqua 00FFFF
Also: thisle D8BFD8 or plum (right above it) and orchid DA70D6
I also like: light salmon FFA07A and Indian Red CD5C5C.

You should have a lot of fun with decorating. For my own house, I kept with a single Sherwin Williams Swatch pallet and carried it through the house.

You may try useing half-formula of the major color you mentioned. Most times you can use the major color and experiment with the formula to find a color that will blend. I hope this helps. The fun of painting is experimenting.

BLEND IS THE KEY AS TOO STRONG COLOR FADING INTO A LESS STRONG EFFECT
BRIGHT ORANGE DOWN TO A SHERBERT TYPE
HERE IS A NOTHER WAY GO TO A PAINT STORE OR HOME DEPOT AND LOOK HOW THEY HAVE THE COLORS OF THE SPECTRUM AS THEY FADE TOWARD THE LIGHTEST
GIVE IT A SHOT

how about a pumpkin pie color, or a brick color. They would go great with the brown and cream...and certainly make a statement!
