I love yellow with white trim in a kitchen, or black & white with red accents.

Since color is a personal choice, I suggest finding a piece in your kitchen, whether a tile, a print, a curtain, and take a color or two from that. My kitchen is painted with Sherman Williams "Library Pewter" on chair level wainscoting and S.W. "Crane White" above the chair rail. My floor covering is "African Verde" porcelin tiles. I have a true country home and I love my kitchen cabinets though old, I choose to paint them the pewter color as well rather than replace them.

The colors are quite personal and you should choose what you like. However, the type of paint is critical for a long lasting finish. The old rule of thumb was "the shinier the finish, the easier the clean". Now, with new products available, you no longer have to have glossy surfaces for durability and ease of cleaning. The ceramic water borne products are extremely durable even in the flat finish and provide beautiful, long lasting results.

Red supposedly stimulates the apetite. But, I like it because it is a happy color and I need all the help I can get to muster up any happiness when I have to be in the kitchen!

Personally, I love any bright and/or deep tone. Green-sage or apple. Yellow-golden or sun. Red-really red, not merlot. or just plain white, with colorful accents. I must add that my style is cont to modern.
If you are a little more subtle, you can always go with more muted tones of the above colors or a nice tan.

there is no best color for a kitchen as it all depends on what type of floor you have ,and what type of wood your cabinetry is made of , these are the two largest factors in determining what color is the best for your kitchen.....painting and decorating contractor.

depends really. Warm colors, such as peach, orange, red, yellow makes you want to eat more. Cool colors such as blues, greens, purples want to make you eat less. So it depends on if you are wanting to lose weight, or if you are a natually skinny person that can eat whatever they choose.

If you have tiles around the cooking area then white. Tiles are easier to clean.
