Its a fairly new couch, but the fabric is so scratchy. We don't want to spend more than necessary, I was just wondering if its worth it to have it done in a less scratchy fabric.

I am looking to buy a house plant (more like a small tree or a big cactus than a little flowering thing). What are reliable stores to get one at, or has anyone had luck using craigs list or ebay? What is a fair price (this might sound dumb, but I've never bought one before)?

I have been thinking about adding a master bed/bath/closet over my garage (approx. 400sf). It needs to be fitted to hold floors of course as I have just rafters there now. Does anyone know the average price per square feet for an addition like this in Seattlle?

Has anyone ever heard about taking plain subflooring screwing it down in squares and painting it or putting a gloss over it? If so...give me some pointers please!

My wife and I watch Flip This House and always see houses that some young couple buys, fixes, and then tries to resell for a tidy profit

I've seen a few episodes where they buy a Craftsman style home for "only" $600,000 dollars, put another $100,000 into it then try and sell it for $800,000.

The first thing I do is wonder what do they do to be able to get a loan on a $600,000 dollar home? Our Craftsman home was built in about 1929. Ours cost us about $60,000, the average price of other similar homes in our town. Is it really "location, location, location?" Is the housing market really that insane in other areas of the country (we live in Missouri)?

I am buying a brand new home. The builder ordered the wrong cabinets and refaced them. I have asked them them to rip out the refaced ones (Cherry Veneer over Oak), and replace them with the ones I ordered (Cherry). They won't budge. How concerned should I be about the quality/durability of what they are trying to give me. Will the life of refaced cabinets be the same as new ones??
