My baby's only 9-months old and my once uncluttered living room's current decorating theme can only be described as "urban toystore."

I'm about to make a playroom. It's in the basement and it's carpeted. There's an entertainment unit with a TV and some shelves of Disney videos in there already, but other than that it's a blank slate.

I know I need lots of storage and I'm thinking about a little desk/craft table or easel and a couple comfy kids chairs (maybe beanbags or those foam ones that flip open, kinda like a bed...)

I know lots of people say chalkboard paint on the walls, but I'm not sure about that... is it really a good idea to tell your kid it's alright to draw on the walls? Also, is it easy to paint over when you don't want a playroom anymore?

Any tips would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

I did not use a primer for the 1st coat because it was a lighter shade than what I am painting with. Will 2 coats of paint cover more evenly? Right now it looks blotchey and uneven and you can see this when I over lap the paint that I have already rolled on. Should I try to sponge paint it or use some other technique?

I'm a thirty-year-old single guy. I like dogs, the outdoors, my Jeep Wrangler, autumn, good wine, travel, photography...

I'm trying to integrate my "likes" into my home. I have painted my living/dining room two colors of khaki, and a chalkboard-green wall. I have a brown leather couch, and walnut tables and bookcases. I've also remodeled my guest bathroom - new flooring, hardware, paint, etc.

However, I'm trying to get ideas on decorating... accent pieces, dining room furniture, bedroom furniture (blank slate right now) and my own bathroom. I need help finding websites for "bachelor pads" and masculine design (not a lot of flowery-things). I'd like to redo the kitchen with the small tiles as a backsplash.

I'd like to find websites/books/magazines that show off a masculine home. Pictures are a must!!

The main goals are to have a cool guy's house and up the resale value.

Serious responses only... any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have a pretty bay window in my kitchen. The middle window is 45 wide and 45 long, and the windows on either side are 25 wide by 25 long. My cabinets are ivory, and my walls are a sage green. I need privacy as the window faces north and directly toward my neighbor.

I would like to make Roman Shades, but have never done so before. Any tips/advice on making them, or suggestions for other treatments? Thanks!

I just rented a condo and the owner said that I can fix it up any way I wanted to. The previous owners put in this hideous wall paper in my dining room and I want it down!! What's the best way to remove wall paper?

I recently moved into a new house that is 3 years old. The walls in the living room are chalky and will leave a white dust on your hands or clothing if you touch them. How can I remedy this so I can repaint. I'd rather do it myself than hire a professional so I hope someone knows!!

Thanks in advance.

We are painting our condo. We have a cedar wall and a brick fireplace in warm rusts/browns/etc. The rugs and walls are currently what I call an oyster or driftwood colour. What colour would you paint the walls? I would like to have a feature wall of colour as well. What do you think?

I am buying new apliances and am torn between the style of stainless steel and the lower price tag of white apliances. Do you think it is worth the extra 300$ or so an aplliance for stainless steel or is it just a passing fad so I should save my money by getting white?

This plant ledge is above the foyer and is pretty high. The foyer has a black bench, back console table and a large mirror which faces the door. I have wood floors and very light salmon cream walls. It really is very light, it just not a flat cream. I have one large silk plant up there. Any ideas? More plants, candles, baskets . . . Oh, I have a moderate budget for this project, so I can't do expensive art.

Th only really visible room from the foyer is the living room, which currently has a green print chair. We have not purchased a sofa, but expect it to match or complement the chair.

Thanks for your ideas!!!
