I very "in" color these days that is soft, appealing and versatile is a sage green. Stark white walls are a thing of the past. People are using yellows, blues and taupes (as well as the green I already mentioned). Just don't get too dark on the shade you choose, unless you want to pull out all the stops in a dining room area and go for a rich, deep red or o9other primary color. That is a bold statement but can look great in just the right room. My advice is do some homework. Look for some magazines on interior design that have pictures. Nothing like photos to give you inspiration! And if you can watch or tape some of the HGTV shows, look for the show they air on decorating with color (it has the word color in the title of the show). That is an excellent education. In fact, I got books on color in the art section just to learn more about what colors work well together and which don't. Learn these basic rules of color and you will be a decorating wizz. :)

your paint color is the key. calm colors are better ex. sage green or eldorado tan. crome is the way to go. chrome lamps and end table with glass tops. make your cushions bright and cherry. maybe plaid and pokadots and shaggy . good luck
