When painting dark over light or visa versa, you will always need to use 2 coats and once in awhile depending on the quality of paint, you may need to do 3. It's just a fact of life when it comes to paint. Even when the can says "one coat coverage", I hardly have ever been able to get away with that unless the colors are very similar in depth or lightness.

Pick some small area and try a second coat to try to salvage what you already did. two coats should do it and if that small area looks good when dry just do the rest. If not start looking for sponge treatments to hide the unevenness.(If you were just starting then usually the paint store will recommend a primer that is tinted to match the final color to put on first.)

Paint always looks this way after the first coat. The second will even it all out. Unfortuately, some walls may even need a third coat. But it will work!

It'll look like crap until it is dry. Another coat should be fine. I guy I know painted his ceiling black and was freaking out because it looked so bad but when it dried it was fine.

Two coats should do it ok. Once you have both coats on, wait it out and see how it looks in all light.
