Marble is best for resale value, but it can be slippery and cold - a good option is to install ceramic tile with a heat coil under it - you can do it yourself.

The problem with marble is that you should have marble in more than one place in your house for continuity. One marble bath would not increase your house value that much. Why not try natural stone or travertene? A natural and organic look is not only "in" right now, it is a very universally appealing and classic look. It is also an affordable way to go. The heated under flooring would be great for you if you were going to have the time to enjoy if before you sell the house. They cost around $400., but I don't think you would get all your money back when you sell. Keep your color choices on the light side to give the impression of a larger space. The problem with looking at magazine ads is that they show bathrooms the size of gymnasiums. Don't be too dazzled by the many bright and rich choices in grout color now. White is impossible to keep clean even for a few months!
Stay with soft neutral grout colors that coordinate with your vanity and wall color. I would avoid looking in tile and floor covering stores on the weekend. Salespeople will have more time to share their knowledge with you during the week. A seasoned salesperson could turn your confusion into a buying decision you could really be proud of. Good luck!

most bathrooms have ceramic in them , marble and granite are beautiful but are slippery when wet, so if you go with that be sure to get good bath mats. You can do it yourself but before you start get all the info that you can

ceramic , and don't just do your floor, make sure the rest is updated. the floor is not going to help on resale, buyers will wonder why this was done half ***..I've seen many 1mil + houses none use granite bathroom, use it on your kitchen counter tops..you'll will also have to replace vanity top if you use granite floor, so it will match..
