IT IS THAT METAL FRAME AND SOMETIMES THE METAL BENDS.

I had a similar problem with my futon. The metal frame came in two pieces and bolted together in the middle. It started sagging pretty badly at the connection point, so I made a wooden support that rested under the connection. I had to fiddle with it a bit to cut out the back side just right so it could still be used as a bed, but figured it out after about an hour...

The first time I did this, it looked pretty trashy, because I was using mismatched boards screwed together just to play with the idea. When I got it working right, I made 3 nicer supports using plywood and 2X2s (like little wooden I - beams) with half-round trim on the front and back. I painted them black to match the frame and fastened them in place evenly spaced. I found some baskets to slide under the futon between the supports, so it looked like the supports actually belonged there.

I also got some decent storage space out of it.

I'm sure there are other solutions, but that one really worked out well for me.

that is one of the reasons I do not like futons.. Is it possible to put boards the length of the futon under it... even 2" by 4" pieces?.. Other than that.. that is what you get with a futon

Get a bunkey board, i think it's used for day beds and bunk beds but it will work for your futon also. If you something cheaper then just use a plain ol' piece of ply wood, that works just fine too.
